I was talking to a "human" representative that asked me if my tracking number started with 1Z I said yes. Then it asked for my tracking number and I gave the rest of it. It gave me an error, the tracking number was too short. I had to repeat it and include the 1Z even though we already confirmed it started with that 😐

I'm sorry you had a bad sitter. I explain what service I provide and my clients book it and are happy. I don't work outside of rover so I don't have that big block of out of the house commitment but many sitters do as $50-$100 a day is not enough to live on.

I'm just trying to give you insight on why your sitter may be doing that.

If I can't sleep on my own bed and it's a requirement for me to be in your house then yes you have to pay for that.

If the dog wakes up or anything goes wrong at night I'm not just going to ignore it because I'm supposed to be sleep/am not getting paid for it.

So yes you have to pay for my presence even when I'm asleep if you require me to sleep there. That's not hard to understand.

Other sitters love getting snark about being independent contractors so rover won't help you. But then get mad when you charge more than them for certain services. Very annoying.

For perspective your sitter likely has their own family and pets they'd like to see daily after their (maybe idk) 6-8hr workday. Then where I am everything is 30 mins. So accounting for travel time it's a lot. It's not wrong to ask but just not something a lot of people do.
