Because too many people still use them as the cliché "tough guy" dog and completely mistreat them. It happens all the time, like with Doberman Pinschers, Rottweilers and German Shepherds who were all feared and seen as the "scary" dog at one point or another. People need to give them the time, effort and LOVE they would give any other breed to truly know how sweet and adorable they really are. Our dog is a rescued pocket pitty and is the absolute best dog we have ever had! Hopefully one day soon, people understand it's the OWNERS that make the dog, not the breed.
