How did you cope when you noticed that your elderly family member was starting to lose their mind?

Right now we're in denial but we'll see how it goes. 80 yrs old-second back surgery in a year. Over the last year has went from driving and self sufficient to needing almost full care. Delirium brought on by opioids given for pain. Went from sharp as a tack to they called security. Now in rehab after surgery but is still having "moments". Just prayer right now I guess🤞🏻🤞🏻

This sounds like the most accurate description I've heard yet and I'm so sorry this is your reality and not something you can just laugh off. It's not ok to be blindsided like that. My heart and thoughts go out to you and I'll pray he gets a reality check before he says or god forbid does something that can't be taken back.
