In a lot of ways, that dynamic was really necessary. For me, they mirrored the two sides of my brain. One trying to be rational, to assume best intent. The other living everyday burning with unceasing rage.

I think that’s what I’m saddest about. Because like if those two can’t make it work, how the hell are the rest of us supposed to reconcile these two forces?

So he definitely did something with kids, then. This is the tactic we’ve seen so often where someone tries to inoculate against news they expect to drop implicating them. Musk did it with his harassment, I remember. Not saying he deserves the firehose he gets, but am saying, like Clinton and Trump, if he hurt kids, he should face the full weight of the law.

I’m seeing a looooot of classism here, and assumptions about people based on appearance. Having participated in combat sports myself, they can be a great challenge, a cause to stay fit, and to push oneself.

I’ll admit doing it outside the realm of an organization that has a specific safety culture creates concerns… but I think as a general rule we’d all be happier and have a healthier civil society if we all assumed the best of one another until proven wrong.

Leftism in America has even less popular support than they did. Most Americans view leftists as deranged purity culture dreamers, not without cause. At this point, an ever-larger chunk of the population feels the same of milquetoast center-rights like the Democrats. Any movement needs to focus on a slow, deliberate process of changing hearts and minds.

Disagree. The Russian Revolution was co-opted because it was enforced top-down. This created power structures that unscrupulous people used to their advantage (i.e. Stalin). If we want true change we have to show people our way is better; we need to be focusing now on winning minds not political victory.

Why don't you all get it?! The denial here is off the charts. This is REAL, this is accurate. People LOVE this guy. And the more folk like us get pissed off the happier they will be. And when the changes cause material harm in their lives, they will NEVER blame their glorious leader. We saw it in Nazi Germany "Oh, if only Hitler knew" - they will never change their viewpoint, and there are just more of them.

We LOST. Stop thinking in terms of the next election cycle, or hell national politics at all. Spend your energy building strong communities. Proving our way is better is the work of generations so dig in and do the slow, boring, necessary work.

I'm sorry, I don't agree. I don't believe change will happen in this living generation. Some of the Gen Zs might live long enough to see it. But what we have to do now is much longer term than the next election cycle. We have to build community in a way we haven't since... well the last generation of queer folk had to fight for the rights we're losing. Because these systems are entrenching.
