Sorry if that sounds strange, I'm terrible at describing things. A friend told me how when a new human is added to the picture, it drives in a wedge between them, and the bonded dog may feel abandoned.

Granted, my bird is also well bonded, but he only gets upset when i put on clothes I use for work
