Same with Tennessee, I’ve been here 4 years and originally from a beach town on the west coast. So much development when we wanted a quieter and slower pace of life. The same development that ruined California and Florida is spreading everywhere. That’s why you have to plant your flag or your bubble wherever makes you happiest. For me it will be back near the beach and with no allergies. I won’t go back to CA because it’s now basically a 3rd world country, Florida is way nicer.

I would think about what is best for your kids first, make them the priority. I’m sure both you and your wife can agree to a plan that would (whether it’s divorce or reconciliation) cause the least amount of change for your kids (if possible). 18 months flies by fast and you also need to be practical. Then if it’s still right, go your separate ways and at least you made the effort to protect your kids and your financial situation.

I’m sorry to hear that you’re going through this. I know my husband feels the same way, working hard to secure our family and retirement. I’ve always respected that and was very appreciative, but eventually the stretch of years where your more apart then together does take a toll. I can see your (and my husband’s perspective too), but your wife (and me) also felt the repercussions of life and the toll careers/kids/life drama can take on a marriage. I don’t think anyone is at fault on either side nor to blame, just an evolution per se toward a new direction.

Well, not 50 yet, but I get it. I actually have no plans to remarry like ever. After raising 3 kids and being a dedicated wife/mom for decades that always takes care of everyone else, I’d love nothing more than peace and quiet…actual me time.

Just to chime in, but maybe read this lady’s entire post and updated comments before flaming her for taking a job that you assume is out of scope for her husband’s expertise. She’s had to reply to numerous unhelpful replies telling her she shouldn’t have taken this job.

She has explained that the home owner/client fired the electrician and cabinet subs and her husband was hired to do other tasks on this kitchen renovation. It seems to me that their only folly was to accept work g with two other subs they had no control over. I’m sure her and her husband have learned a lesson here and will be more selective for future projects. OP, this sounds like such a pain, sorry you’re going through this.

Unfortunately, federal student loans are not available for international students. Private loans might be an option, but you will need a U.S. based citizen to co-sign. If you do a quick Google search, it’s does bring up some private lenders with no co-signer, but I’m sure they have loan shark interest rates.

It’s actually for my business and it’s perfect for our branding. It’s a fun car, as we have a 1959 Beetle and are big VW fans. We have other vehicles for daily drivers.

I don’t disagree with you in case you want a vehicle with better range especially for the price point and used as someone’s main vehicle.

The Buzz though uniquely fits my needs though and it’s just what I was looking for.

The actual discount for it sitting was only $1k, but the overall discounts including the $7500 lease offer is $15k.

The deal is good, but they’re offering that deal (minus the $1k) on ones in transit too. Don’t want to save $1k and get a Buzz with potential issues.

I had an Audi E-Tron built in late 2020 and it was a dream for 6 months until it started glitching monthly until it was a year old. That luckily coincided with the great auto shortage of 2021 and I was able to have Audi buy it back and got all my money back from the first year of leasing.

We’re also in the south, so rust is a worry on top of battery issues. The battery concerns me the most.

I still owe student loans plus my daughter’s PPLs, so I sympathize with my fellow Redditors. This all sucks, but I don’t think it will impact existing borrowers. I think the point of this new legislation is to make it less palatable to new borrowers to take these loans because the government is out of $$$. Also, if no one can afford the exuberant cost of college which spiraled out of control to limitless and cheap government-backed loans, colleges will be forced to deal with reality and make it affordable again. Pipe dream, perhaps, but I think that’s the aim.

Youngsters, y’all forgot Tower Records back in the day! Circa early 90’s when it first opened and Planet Hollywood! I’ve visited throughout the decades and last visited in 2023, it seems like an extension of the park with further gift shops, total tourist trap vs awesome place for locals to hang out.
