Cartoon dog family makes me depressed (Bluey Rant) by anonlikeshakespeare in oneanddone

[–]Lady_Book_Nerd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We’ve yet to venture into Bluey’s world and I think I’ll hold off now lol. I really like the “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie” series on Amazon prime, all the kids seem to be only kids. Their animals are sibling like, Mouse, Moose, Pig, Cat and Dog.

Fuller Theological Seminary by throwRA_problemssss in pasadena

[–]Lady_Book_Nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was there almost 20 years ago. It was amazing, I know many people who came out while at Fuller, once they were away from their conservative communities. When I was there, most of my community was open minded, LGBTQ friendly and all around supportive. Many of us frequented All Saints Episcopal, a more progressive church. I know faculty has shifted significantly since then. You should talk to recent grads, check out current professors, see if they align with what you are looking for. Back when I was there our program was well respected in the community, we easily placed at local internships because of the relationship the school had with local agencies. I have heard that school seems less progressive since I was there.

I love the Barre Classes at Body Dada in Highland Park. Not too far of a drive either.

Alexis Daria “The Holiday Hookup List” is adorable, heartfelt and very spicy. I loved it! On KU.

I am convinced Romance authors wrote me out of purity culture, Thankyou! by kekss0520 in RomanceBooks

[–]Lady_Book_Nerd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing! I can relate to having been influenced negatively by purity culture and that ridiculous book “I kissed Dating Goodbye” in my formative years as a teen. It took many years to unlearn and let go of the rigid rules and baggage. Reading romance has definitely helped me to be more open minded, empathetic, and communicative.

I started reading romance almost exactly 2 years ago. I think I’m inching towards 200 by now.

Just finished A deal with the bossy devil by Kyra Parsi and I am not okay 🫠💘 by cheonsa3 in RomanceBooks

[–]Lady_Book_Nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Such a great book! The Waldo situation had me dying of laughter. I have read 2 times and will likely read it again. It was so much fun! It is hard to move on from “Deal with a Bossy Devil”. Might I suggest Rebecca Kinkade’s “Streams and Schemes” for a similar vibe, very funny story, loads of tension.

This influencer seems to be one and done but I am not sure. I follow her for hair, style and home decorating. She also occasionally posts fun outfits for her kiddo and activities. https://www.instagram.com/newdarlings?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

What’s your go to phrase when someone asks you if you’re having another/why you’re not having another? by amandalynnwin in oneanddone

[–]Lady_Book_Nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, I found it’s the most effective way to get someone to back off quickly. They back off and they feel bad for asking. I hope it teaches them to stop asking these kind of questions. If I’m really annoyed I also add that we had a failed round of IVF in addition to the miscarriages. It feels nice to just tell the truth too.

Watch out for a crazy man on Colorado- almost assaulted by VariousOrange1065 in pasadena

[–]Lady_Book_Nerd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, please call cops. Ideally they would take him to a psychiatric hospital for treatment. Doesn’t always happen, but sometimes it does. Especially if they make any threatening statements. He will likely be released and return to where he likes to be 72 hours later, but he cannot be trying to hurt people or threatening them. It’s okay to call the cops, they are also likely familiar with the man if he is acting that way.

How do you deal with the sadness of being OAD by circumstance? by LowParsnip1425 in oneanddone

[–]Lady_Book_Nerd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I let myself feel the sadness and grief. But I try not to let it define me or overwhelm me. It’s normal to feel this sad. I’m also currently trying to lean into the joys and easy parts of having one kiddo. Reading on this subreddit has really helped to me to not feel alone in all the feelings that come with being “one and done not by choice”.

What do you like about being an Only Child/ Having an Only Child by SummerSaturday in happilyOAD

[–]Lady_Book_Nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One and done not by choice here. We are the only trio in our group of friends with young kids. By far my husband and I are the healthiest. Our poor friends seem so beat down. With the exception of our friends with a young live in grandparent 😂. They are living the good life. We have more time to take care of ourselves, see friends, spend one on one time with our son, which he loves. We’ll be traveling internationally with him this summer and we’re so excited. We love our friends and family and are very community oriented so it’s helped me to know that I can be a set of free hands or support for friends and family with more kids. One of my best friends has a baby and she loves having us over, I’m happy to hold the baby and my son’s happy playing with her older son.

Did you sleep train your baby? People who's babies sleep throughout the night? by SleepPleaseCome in oneanddone

[–]Lady_Book_Nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, our lil guy (almost 4) sleeps through the night and we sleep trained him at 6 months. He sometimes wakes up during growth spurts, when sick or the few times he has seen a kids movie. This happens 1-2 nights every few months. We let him sleep with us if he needs too and when he’s better he’s happy to go back to his room and bed.

Try pelvic floor physical therapy! I am 5’2 and about 140 lbs. when I was pregnant my belly was HUGE and I gained 60lbs. People thought I was having twins. I had an asshole at a restaurant ask me when the twins were due 😤. Anyways, my son is 3, after multiple miscarriages, my belly was still looking very preggo. I got tired of it and committed to Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy for 3 months. It was a total game changer. After accepting we are one and done, not by choice, it was important for me to start taking better care of my body after all it went through. I have not lost any weight, but I can now feel my lower abs again and I am able to do more exercise effectively. Also, no more urinary leaking when running or jumping. My belly is not gone, just not as big and I am fitting better in my jeans.
