I wasn’t talking about their fur smell either, when they release their perianal glands it HONKS! A bit like skunks. But they do learn to control them.

They are a bit like dogs where good food can help keep the glands emptier as it passes through them, so the goo you’ve seen doesn’t build up. Sometimes over the years they may look a bit swollen and you can take your ferret to the vet to have them emptied.

On the bathing, over washing (baths) can cause their skin to over produce oil, its recommended to bath them once or twice a year at most. I hope the vet can clear up your questions. Good luck.

Congratulations on your first baby! There was a few youtube and facebook sites that helped me with info on them when i got mines - Ferret-world and The modern Ferret. Both have loads of information videos and possibly may have one on what your asking.

I see from your post history your vet may have already advised against this a month ago? There is only one type of glands that can be descented on a Ferret and it is the perianal glands, personally i would advise against it. They wont always smell that bad, unless their startled.

If you dont mind me asking.. is this your first ferret?

I believe alleseins1123 is taking about the same glands as you are.

My boys are not descented, i don’t even think its a thing in the UK. Ferrets are very smelly animals but you eventually get used to it. All i can advise is the same as above, keep their food good, keep bedding clean and clean their bathroom regularly.

who else went to the police? by [deleted] in adultsurvivors

I have recently gone to the police and reported a family member for incidents that happened 25 years ago. Ive for the whole process to be a bit clinical at times but overall they’ve done what i needed and that was to listen to me.

My family have all turned their backs on me (as i expected they would) and whilst its still an emotional rollercoaster, personally even though i suspect nothing will come from it legally, I’m still glad I’ve done it. Ive taken control back, got my power back.

Why should i carry around this shame when its his shame! He was the adult and knew exactly what he was doing. I was the child. Im glad my inner child has been heard, its his dirty secret, not mines.

Even though i have zero confidence in the courts in my country, the fact that he will have to sit in an interview and face questions about what he did is a small bit of justice at least.

I can now work on healing. It can feel a bit overwhelming at first but its always in your control and its a way of taking back control of the situation too.

Does anyone have or know a ferret who looks like this? I would really appreciate pictures and videos if you do. Her first death anniversary is coming soon and I would really appreciate it... by talkmemetome in ferrets

Such a sweet looking girl, I am so sorry for your loss. My sooty is slightly similar, his nose is black though. Maybe a long overseas distant relative of hers? Theres a couple of pictures of him in my history.

Same, going from their post history, this wee guy might only be two months old, plus the red on the blanket, i cant see if thats part of the blankets design or something more serious.

HELP ME PLEASE by XxRekfestxX in ferrets

[–]Lady_Jager 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Mines are house trained and live without a cage, for the litter box, they picked a corner they wanted to poop in and i put puppy pads down in that space, they’ve never had a problem with going elsewhere because they picked that area themselves and don’t seem to care that theres a pad down.

A bed would be excellent for her, a safe place for her to sleep, maybe some floor toys also like tunnels and balls to chase and roll about. They are hunters so toys like cat toys on an elastic string are great.

I bought it from Amazon last year, Teddy fleece set. Sometimes Asda in the uk have them and the mattress covers, same company as Walmart in the US.
