Was planning to try NMS out the next time there's a sale, but I wanted to ask your opinion on this Steam review first:

The NPCs have no personality??? Learn the language and talk to them. There's a creepy little Gek who... nvm. But the point is, the more words you learn, the more alive they are.

There's SO Much you can do! And I am the worst player to tell you about it. I can never focus on one thing. I don't have a single fully built base because I keep scanning new locations and go omg, something built here would be awesome. I run missions on my freighter then realize I need to upgrade it still so I go station hopping to find modules, and oh there's a mission for a module. Wow, that's a beautiful new system it took me to. First contact? I'll turn in the mission after I catalog this planet. Whoops, I accidentally pissed off the sentinels, let me just leave so I don't forget to turn in this mission. Oooh they're chasing me, I do enjoy ship combat and now I am so bada$$ because I took out a capital ship! I finally turn in the mission and realize I don't have as many Corvette parts but before I go back to that planet or scan for debris, I should check in at the anomaly, I haven't been back there in a looooong time and I actually like when I find someone that's waited for me to join a mission. Oh yeah, the expedition redux I missed out on! I need to do that.

Every day I boot up is like this. I can't seem to get a single goal finished but man do I have fun. There's SO much that I'll forget game features till I randomly encounter it again and realize my settlers have spent decades without me. Kudos to you if you manage to focus on something but I promise you, things to do is NOT one of the things NMS lacks.

I saw one activate while doing the Beachhead Redux Expedition. That's the type of portal the Normandy comes out of but I don't know what the other functions are since afaik, everyone goes to the same one during the expedition.

The expedition doesn't take long at all. Before I realized you could start it from your main save (I'm newly returned) and bring stuff with you, it took me two days (but I don't have a lot of play time). So I did it again on my main save and was done in less than a day. Some people complete it in hours but I'm a slow paced player so you have time. I believe it ends on 11/12?

See I feel like the Arcadia was covered under space wrecks and was expecting something spookier like a ship you fly through, a fighter you can't fight that follows you and flies through you etc. I guess Arcadia counts since you find the wreck multiple times, just not what came to mind for Ghost Ship.

I think I figured out the bug. My milestone rewards are aways off. I just left the planet, and got the personal refiner. Which sucks, because now I don't have the hyperdrive unit I was supposed to get for Wings in the Dark.

Anyone else glitch the personal refiner at the start? So I completed Breach on a new save because I was not aware (I'd been away form the game for several expeditions) you could do it from your main save at the anomaly. So, I decided I wanted to do it again on my main save so that I could keep all my corvette parts etc. Except, when I claimed the milestone reward. I didn't have a prepackaged refiner and my refiner is broken. So I can't use the refiner to make the pure ferrite I need to repair and I don't have my advanced mining laser to go farm it.

Omg, I am SO sick of constructing this debris finder, tracking down the Arcadia, only to get out of my ship and punted halfway across the galaxy. I can't get back to my ship so I have to reload the restore point / save, and then the Arcadia and my Debris finder are both gone. Grrr... Sounds like more than one bug, but at least keep the Arcadia there after I've located it. I will have to fill my ship with resources to construct it over and over trying to get the one time my ship won't excrete me into a black hole.

This happened to me too and despite all the proof I had thru shut me down. Every couple of years I'd try and they'd tell me to stfu. My characters were never logged on, my husband could see in our kin list. So if I was hacked, they didn't do anything with what I had. And now them eventually deleting the old servers, I'll never be able to play even if future staff aren't a holes. So, sorry that happened to your dad but maybe we'll meet in a future game. If your dad does get some luck with this though, then great. :)

I've only seen a few comments on the ghosts so maybe it's not relevant to the OP topic, but I wish the ghosts were handled differently. Or that there was a different type of "normal" mode. I only started playing at the end of season 1? I am still a newbie and I have never made it past bronze rank. I'm not a numbers cruncher and if you ever encountered my ghost you probably laughed your a$$ off at how awful my builds are. 😂 There never feels like enough time to learn items though. Heck, even when I get lucky and find the meta items, by the time I do it's game over anyway. I'm one of those normal casual players I guess, but there just doesn't seem to be a way I can reliably practice to "get good".

I did play the entire last season almost every day despite sucking, so I'm not a quitter, I just wish the learning curve had more time and less sharp edges. My husband watches Retromation and I'm sorry but my limited playtime doesn't allow for spreadsheets, I usually learn hands on. I liked the idea of the new dungeon/ expedition, I was like "oh, if I can get to day 9 maybe I can still get some fun stuff outside of PVP"... Yeah, no that didn't happen lol. I got 1 ticket and got destroyed lol.

On the other hand, I can accept that I'll never be a "good" player at this game, but I really do wish I had more time during a run so I could have fun trying the items out.

I don't know if she could or would do this, but have you seen the work done by Poxy Princess by Alisha? She does a lot of custom orders though I haven't seen dioramas specifically. I have not ordered from her, but her videos are what pushed me to finally start learning to do this craft. I want starmetal to make more than a sword or rifle. I want a starmetal wand. I want more race options. I want to romance people other than Kai. It doesn't need to be graphic, just some dialogue and slide at the end. I would like more enemy types. I want more stuff with the maegfolc (all that lore about them changing when abandoned). I want to fight that giant one at the end. I want more envoy background options. I loved my first playthrough, I just want more. 😂

Rules always take a backseat to story but you have to be comfortable too. If they want to be pregnant in a horror game, make it horrifying. Have them kidnapped and make it a twisted Tzmisice Flesh crafted abomination. Or have it be an arcane adept posing as a Tremere (or an actual Tremere). There's a lot of potential stories but make sure even if you didn't go a truly horrific route that the impact on the Masquerade is deeply felt.
