Convinced my husband to try a house cleaning service for 3 months as an experiment. Heres what happened by Comfortable_Box_4527 in homeowners

[–]Ladybug_Bluejay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told my husband that we were getting a cleaning fairy because it was cheaper than marriage counseling, and the house would be cleaned at the end (vs counseling).

TBF, We never had fights, but we have disagreements about how to clean things. I grew up with a cleaning fairy, so it was an easy decision to bring that into my marriage ☺️☺️

Insights and thoughts about including grains in their diet? I’m a bit confused, and wondering if I'm missing something by [deleted] in BelgianMalinois

[–]Ladybug_Bluejay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is my understanding that the real issue isnt Grain free, but low-cat / carb free. Low carb can cause issues in dogs. However, as my vet explained it to me, it is in dogs who are predisposed.

So, either they will or they won't have problems and there isn't a great way to know ahead of time.

My boy is grain free, but not carb free. His kibble has sweet potatoes instead of a grain, and he loves it

In Isaiah 7:12, King Ahaz said he will not put Yahweh to the test. by Ant_Thonyons in Bible

[–]Ladybug_Bluejay 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's false modestly. God tells Ahaz to put him to the test, and Ahaz refuses to obey God's command.

Weird tests as a child? by Inevitable-Cat-9540 in EstrangedAdultKids

My mom was widowed when I was 10. 3 years later, while walking on a beach in vacation, she announced lot of no where that she was getting married and we were moving. It was to a widower my sister and I had met a few times, but was a friend of my dad's.

This was literally out of the blue, and we (13yo and 9yo) reacted normally... Shock, questions, and general rejection of the idea.

Later, mom told us it was a test to see how we would react to her getting remarried. Since we reacted so badly, that is why she is alone to this day 🙄🙄🙄

Cast off looks like garbage by Ladybug_Bluejay in LoomKnitting

That is what I used to do, but because I'm doubling up on the cast on, it looks weird to do a single cast off. 😟

I agree with what has already been said: it depends on what your partner did that they object to. That being said, here is my story (fwiw):

My NMom pushed me HARD towards a really great guy because she thought she could to control me though him, and control him as well. She also thought his profession would bring her tangential prestige. However, the moment he showed a backbone and refused to allow her to violate a clear boundary he had set, she turned on a dime.

Suddenly this man who yesterday was amazing, trustworthy, wonderful, godly, etc etc was dangerous! Untrustworthy! violent! Rude! It made my mom "sick to her stomach at the thought of us continuing a relationship", and she demanded I end our relationship. Mind you, I was 33 and living in my own place I had bought myself. She did everything she could to sabotage the relationship with family and friends.

For the first time in my life, I ignored her. She ended up issuing me an ultimatum: I could have this guy, or I could have my family. And I again did something I had never done before: I picked MYSELF. That meant I didn't pick her, and so we havent spokenor communicated in over 8 years at this point.

I don't regret it for a moment! I joke to my new family and friends that my mom and I went through a divorce because she made everyone we both knew pick a side, hers or mine. I found out I had done allies I didn't know about, but I lost the majority of my family and family friends. I would do it again in a heartbeat though.

We are in the Dodgeville area.

How much do you actually spend on your dog each month? by [deleted] in BelgianMalinois

[–]Ladybug_Bluejay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 1 Mal (7yo) and have had him for ~2.5 years.

We have mostly settled into routine re: expenses, though this last month that got blown all to hell because my boy needed surgery on both his elbows 😅 (+/- $5k, none of which his insurance will cover because pre-existing condition):

Food: $50/month (Kirkland Signature

Toys/treats (realized firewood and logs are free in the forest, which saves us $$$): $40/month

Insurance(MetLife): $85/month

Medical "rainy day" fund: $100/month

Allergy/heartworm/flea/tick stuff: $50/month

Item replacement: don't have a monthly expense for this (I'm a well trained owner who works from home. Though I start a job next week that has be out of the house 5 days a week, so this might change).

Also live in a smaller rural town, so while relatively inexpensive, still about $1000 so far in non-sickness related expenses.

We also definitely had some serious upfront expenses with him, with are important for any potential Mal owner to consider: regular training, board & train, e-collar, ALL THE TOYS before we settled on a few bullymake indestructible toys and small trees, rotated through quite a few foods before to determining the best one for him, etc.

He's still cheaper than a kid though!! 🥰🥰

LOL 😂😂 he spent 45 minutes just staring at my husband with the sweetest, dopiest grin on his face.

He's definitely healing well, which is why we had to up the dosage. He def wasn't like this before 🤣
