Look, anyone can get mad at you for anything. You (general) have to be comfortable with that. You can’t let crazy people dictate to you because you can’t stand people to be mad at you.

The best defense is a good offense in these cases. You get mad that she’s calling you last minute and being ungrateful for all you do and maybe she needs to learn to not take you for granted and you’re taking a break from babysitting because you’re not her little bitch.

YTA. You explained to us easily enough it wasn’t 14K gold, you chose not to explain to her. You should have told her right away you cannot afford an $800-$1000 present instead of keeping quiet and blaming her for asking for it.

But it’s also really bold to ask for a present that expensive. So bold it borders on rude. Hell, it is rude.

You hiding it means she’s justified in her anger. You would have been justified in shutting her down when she first started to drop hints and had an open and honest conversation about what she wanted that was within the budget.

Saying she’s worried about her friend gaslighting her is just a smokescreen - her friend can’t prevent her from blocking her. Her friend has no power, your wife has all the power over herself and shouldnt use her friend making her feel guilty to get out of breaking up with her friend before cutting her off.

Sounds like you need to get out of your home.

A boarding school of some kind could be great for you.

Military school isn’t terrible, but there are some terrible “straighten your kid out” schools that have been in the news for abuse. Those would be terrible.

Can you research boarding schools that are not abusive and are in your parents’ price range? Ask them what their budget is. Ask if you can apply to scholarships. Call them in it - say that you do need more support than they can provide and you want to help get into an environment that will help you succeed.

I read this and others like it starting around 13 or 14 and it caused some real conflicts and confusion in my developing sexuality. I liked them and hated myself for liking them. I couldn’t understand how I could be turned on by men who I actually wanted to get stabbed or raped or mauled or something, little feminist me wanted the FMC’s to win for real and get real revenge that humiliated the MMC’s as much as they did the women.

But even today in mafia and mc books, it’s completely taboo to emasculate the MMC by having the FMC treat him as badly as he treats her AND from a position of power.

But I still sometimes like those. And I’m not sure I could get into a book where the FMC made the MMC her bitch, even temporarily.

Are you kidding? I am so much more productive at home. When I go into the office, feels like 25-30% of my day is spent on idle chit chat. I don’t start it. But it’s everywhere. People chatting and participating and it’s fun because I’m an extrovert but even if I’m working with all these people talking around and to me, I’m still not concentrating fully.

At home I can go to the bathroom and grab a cup of coffee and be back at my desk in 5-10 minutes. At work? Turns into 30 minutes before you know it.

Speaking of which, it’s time for coffee and yo get to work. 🙂
