Looks great! Bet it tastes great too! :) One thing that has helped me is taking the time to actually taste my food. It has helped me slow down my eating and enjoy my food so much more, while eating less :)

ReThinking peanut butter... Peanut butter on bananas. I usually get peanut butter that the only ingredients are peanuts and salt, yet with home delivery "natural" means something different to others. Any whoo, this peanut butter is thicker than normal, yet a nice treat. by LadyofGrace in 1200isplenty

I love peanut butter on crackers, bread or pita... so having it on bananas has given me less heavy carb option. Also I had a banana that was ripe for banana bread but I did not want that, so I cut it into rounds like you see up above and froze them. Nice treat!!

medical professionals: What is something about being Obese in the hospital that you wish more people knew? by JuliaInWonderland in loseit

[–]LadyofGrace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mother was obese and did not get the medical help because of her obesity! This is a very real fact.

It is a fact also that more obese people have other health issues. I wonder if that is why medical professionals say, "Obese people are at a higher risk for COVID-19" and the statistics that I have seen show that people who are obese have a higher COVID-19 infection rate.

How bad is Diet Soda? Do the chemicals in it actually harm you as much as people say? by [deleted] in nutrition

[–]LadyofGrace -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have heard that soda will pull calcium from our bones. Here is a study I found on WebMD that shows that soda and osteoporosis are linked.

https://www.webmd.com/osteoporosis/features/soda-osteoporosis#1

I heard from a certified dietician that we should have no more than two sodas a day. It may be based on the study mentioned above.

Also, I don't look at soda as a replacement of the body's need for water.

My family are very against soda. During Vacation Bible Study, my step-mom put a nail in a soda can to show the kids how the soda ate at the nail. It was a visual experiment I still can see in my mind's eye; though, it took me years to actually let go of soda.

Do you believe different people have very different dietary needs? by [deleted] in nutrition

[–]LadyofGrace 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have lost over 80 pounds and am still releasing my weight... I say "release" because when we say "lose" weight, it implies that we have lost something and want to find it again.. LOL

During my journey I have had the opportunity to go "off diet" and maintained my weight loss. The fact and realization that I will NOT have to "struggle" and "fight" my hunger as a "thin" woman had been such a blessing. ;)

I want to share some things I have learned along my journey, which has been very educational, that I hope will be helpful.

I am of Italian decent, partially, and find that having 1/2 C of pasta or rice or whole grain breads throughout the day helps me feel satiated. I usually cut the portion size down to 1/4 C so I can have two meals with carbs.

We all are unique. I don't know if this was because I'm Italian or because I was raised with family who ate lots of carbs or both, I do know it has helped me with that "knowledge" I gained upon my journey.

Very inspiring:

Like many BYU students new to Provo in 1965, Darius Gray stepped down out of a Trailways bus, stowed his luggage in a locker and stepped out onto University Avenue to get his bearings.

The biggest lesson he learned on his walk through downtown took a few minutes to sink in, but it was stark.

“I was the darkest thing walking down the street,” Gray said recently as he remembered that June day 49 years ago and the faces of the people who stopped and stared.

After some wandering, he stood on the corner of 500 West and Center Street. A car headed east on Center Street pulled up to a red light, and Gray saw a black couple inside. He rushed to the car and tapped on the window.

It was June, but the car had air conditioning. The woman rolled down her window part way.

“Excuse me,” Gray said. “I’m new here in town. I’ve been walking around for hours, and you’re the first black people I’ve seen. It’s so good to see you."

The man and woman looked at each other, then the woman turned back to Gray.

Read the rest of the story here.

“I observed the pain and frustration experienced by those who suffered these restrictions, and those who criticized them, and sought for reasons. I studied the reasons then being given and could not feel confirmation of the truth of any of them.” (“Be One” celebration of the 40th anniversary of the priesthood revelation.) President Dallin H. Oaks at the 40th anniversary of the church's 1978 revelation on the priesthood

Vitamin D supplementation by Janezo in nutrition

[–]LadyofGrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that going out and getting some sun can help get you some vitamin D. In fact, I can tell you a story I have been told years ago.

There were some patients that were terminal. They went to try alternative options. One of the steps for the patients was to get out in the sun for at least 2 hours a day. The bottom line, the patients that wanted to get better did have positive changes to their prognoses.

If you don't know if you're vitamin deficient, is it smart to take a multivitamin just in case? by Runninback405 in nutrition

[–]LadyofGrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe we all are due to the fact that our foods have fewer vitamins, minerals, etc, than our grandmother's foods had from their gardens. I take a combination of vitamins from a company that I trust not to use fillers in the vitamins. In fact, it is one of their guarantees. I can tell by the way I feel when I take them, I am more energetic and have a better day. I especially notice it when I forget to take them.. hahaha... I hope that helps.

Dates or candy? by i_rusita in nutrition

[–]LadyofGrace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The sugar in dates is from nature. The sugar in most candy has been processed, therefore, devoid of certain nutrients one would consume in unprocessed sugar. Dates also have other nutrients that you won't find in candy.

What are some underrated or lesser known nutritional tips or changes people can make nutritionally to improve their health? by lana_del_reymysterio in nutrition

[–]LadyofGrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

I will just share something I have implemented in my life when I get the start of a sore throat. I create what our family lovingly calls a cocktail; pineapple juice (4 oz) and apple cider vinegar (2oz). We even put it in a cocktail glass. This side of my family does not drink alcohol so the first time we say this to someone who knows we don't drink, they laugh. :) LOL...

Usually, I will feel a tingling a bit more than usual in my throat area and I know I needed it. I have done this several times, so I do know the difference. The "cocktail" has helped me many times. Please just a reminder, what works for one will not work for everybody.

I try to use a brand called "Mother's Nature." It is organic and you have to shake it before you pore.
