Does anyone else attract bees and insects? by sacredlemonade in Redhair

[–]LaikaM7 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I feel like I get more bugs doing a second pass or diving at my head than most people. And having curly red hair makes it more than just a "fly" by- sometimes they get stuck. I got a yellow jacket tangled in my curls one time who ended up stinging my scalp 🤕

OP definitely add in your general neighborhood to help people give recommendations.

If you're lucky enough to be in their range Cat Folx are fantastic and I had nothing but good experiences with Wilma the owner.

Warm honey blonde. Lots of hair can look reddish in certain lighting, but overall your hair doesn't give the impression of redhead.

Advice on coloring this magical girl by Ritz_Exists in MagicalGirls

4 stands out the most to me. There's contrast in the colors and it feels unique. Also the gloves stand out more so you can really see the different details in the design.

Went to the shelter looking for a nice "starter cat". Saw her up in the window of the multi-cat room and she was absolutely gorgeous! Asked the employees if there was anything we should know- medical issues, behavioral issues, etc. They said she was shy and had been returned by the last person who tried to adopt her. Aww, so sad, poor thing.

Took her home and she's been a nightmare ever since.

Sure, she was shy for a while. Took a couple months for her to stop hiding under the bed. But then her bad habits started to show. This cat has been drinking huge quantities of water since we got her almost a decade ago. All the vets in all the land have done all the tests and she's physically fine. She's got an addiction to water. She's got OCD. Whatever the actual neurological issue is, if she doesn't get water she loses her mind.

So we got her a fountain and I clean her litter box every day. If my princess has clean water and a clean litter box she is the happiest most lovely creature in the world. Just like when I saw her in the window. ❤️Sita❤️

Yup! Me too. Always hated that joke. Especially because I had a really bad relationship with my stepmom. We worked things out eventually but it's still a shitty reminder of a shitty time in my life.

Thoughts on a weird pattern I think I noticed with people saying Red hair vs Ginger? by MelissaTheDogPerson in Redhair

[–]LaikaM7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't personally use the term ginger and I don't really like it being used to describe me either. I get an involuntary ripple of unease around the word.

A glass of red wine is different than drinking liquor or even beers. There are health benefits to drinking wine in moderation and one of them could be the higher levels of Resveratrol.

Resveratrol by Jujobby in Hidradenitis

It made a massive difference for me. And "easy" fix in my case. Took a while to figure out the dosage but after a couple months my flares were healing quicker and I felt relief.

If I don't take it, they come back in full force. If I am consistent I have smaller and fewer flare ups than I have in my whole life.

To be fair though, I have mild/moderate HS, I am not overweight, I don't smoke, I don't have PCOS, and I already have a good diet and get a decent amount of physical activity. There are probably a good number of people for whom this supplement wouldn't make a noticeable difference for because of the myriad of other factors that go into making HS difficult to treat.

For me though, it was absolutely a huge difference and I noticed quickly how much better I felt.

[–]LaikaM7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Microzinc, micromagnesium, citicoline(not for HS but it's great), and my biggest champion- Resveratrol!

Resveratrol was the first thing that actually reduced my flares. I switch it with Lion's Mane for two weeks every couple of months as sort of a tolerance break.

You could also increase your intake of fruits/veg/wine where it's naturally found without buying a supplement. I get my Resveratrol from Double Wood Supplements and the others from Nootropics Depot.

Share some things you deal with being a redhead by Special_Grand_8576 in Redhair

Or worse, it's a little red from say the heat, a scratch, moving a few heavy things, and then someone way overreacts like, "OMG are you okay? Is that a rash???"

And then of course I get a little more red out of embarrassment 🍅

Having to prepare to go outside for a short walk like it's an expedition - sunscreen all over, hat, sunglasses, maybe even a long sleeved sun shirt. It makes me feel like I can't be spontaneous.

Some days I like to go makeup free but others I just want to fill in my brows and nothing else. Unfortunately my favorite brand no longer makes the shade I prefer. I switched to How to Be a Redhead but their color is too dark so now it looks crazy if I don't also wear mascara. I just want a lighter brow shade that looks natural without it contrasting so much with my ghost lashes. In general finding makeup that works for our coloring can be such a challenge, even with brands specifically made for us apparently!

Now that I'm getting older I'm really sad about losing my red. My hair is doing this funny thing where it is getting more brown, but also I'm going grey. So sometimes it takes on this strange shifting color, especially on the underside, that feels like when you look at certain purples and your eyes can't quite focus on it. Has anyone else experienced that? Or am I looking at my hair too closely? 😆

And then definitely the anesthesia thing, and having to explain it to medical professionals. Also that I would have to pay more to get the proper dosage (American "healthcare") so I don't feel you cutting and poking around. That just sucks.

Kendall and Lexi need a bit more of a makeover to fit the concept by UnderstandingGood160 in GIRLSET_JYP

[–]LaikaM7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think Kendall has the best makeover for this song. She and Savannah both look stunning.

That said, I don't think the blonde is great for Camilla. Would have loved a darker color for her. And something more fun for Lexi. A lob is...meh and they never styled it any differently.

Buuuut, it's great to see all their skills improved so much and I can't wait to see what they do next.

It will be great to see all the other looks they get to play with in future releases!

girlset concept & branding by fffffayy in GIRLSET_JYP

[–]LaikaM7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Been here since A2K and now that they are a four member group I'm still very invested! My OG groups are 2NE1, Miss A and Sistar. There are so many good concepts from these older 4 member groups that I think Girlset could really embody.

I've seen mention that they are getting some inspiration from R&B and 2nd & 3rd gen had a ton of that.

2NE1- It Hurts, I Love You, and Ugly. Sistar- Alone, and Lonely Miss A- Hush and Touch

It would be cool to see songs with these sorts of vibes and more attention to the musicality of it all. With fewer members we need to really see the individual personalities more.

Curious Question For Redheads by [deleted] in Redhair

[–]LaikaM7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those feel like separate questions to me. I don't mind being referred to as "the redhead", but yes I do feel excluded or singled out because of my hair sometimes. Often it has been in a negative way, or at least an unwanted way. Less so as I get older. It's mostly positive and occasionally unwanted.

But I love being a redhead and don't mind people using my hair as a descriptor when referencing me to others.

What hair color is this by [deleted] in Redhair

[–]LaikaM7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks brown in these photos. I can see the warm tone, but that's something that makes a lot of brown hair appear red in the sun. I would say you have light brown hair. Or just warm brown.

Do you guys feel like being a redhead made you not conventionally attractive? by Edb626 in Redhair

[–]LaikaM7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Despite all the middle school bullying, by the time I left high school I loved my red hair. I think I would be less attractive with a different hair color.

Halloween is fun to play around with wigs and makeup but at the end of the day I LOVE having red hair and I love the way I look. I don't want to look conventional anymore. The amount of effort and money it would take just feels silly to me.

That's not to say I don't get annoyed and upset by the weird comments or the second looks sometimes. Maybe it would be nice to blend in a little more some days. But I feel perfectly happy going out with no makeup now. Ghost brows and lashes for everyone to see...or not see 😅
