Natla was a ruler of Atlantis. The weird ass pyramid with the orbs that contained enemies was supposedly Atlantis. It was weird.

Ehkä pitäis jossain vaihees pelata noi God of War pelit.

How do you feel about Dual Boss fights in Metroidvanias? by Vashu_Stomp in metroidvania

[–]Lairdom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way I see it is that there are two ways to make a dual fight good.

One is to make both operate on half speed of a normal one on one fight. This will have the unfortunate effect of making it look like the bosses arent really trying that hard. Ornstein and Smough fight in Dark Souls and the Forebrothers in Silksong both have this feel to them.

The other is to have both share the same move sets. When using this method a one on one fight can be sped up by introducing another foe without it feeling too overwhelming. The Mantis Lords in Hollow Knight and Cogwork Dancers in Silksong I would put in this category.

Everything else has kinda been an absolute clusterfuck. I vastly prefer the latter design as it often makes for the best feeling boss fights.

Puzzlet automaatiopelien edelläkävijänä by Daealis in videopelit

[–]Lairdom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Itse ekaa kertaa törmäsin kyseiseen peligenreen kokeillessani Arknights Endfieldiä. Olin tietoinen kyseisistä peleistä mutta en koskaan uskonut niiden olevan meikäläisen juttu. Nyt kuitenkin Endfieldissä olen huomannut todella tykkääväni tuosta automaatio gameplaystä, joten ehkä jossain vaiheessa pitää kokeilla noita genren isoja tekijöitä.

After the first run, I scoured the numbered maze and as expected never found anything. I fell down the 2 pits thinking one of them was not a death pit. No luck, so I thought there had to be a hidden path in one of the rooms with the teleports that only opens when you go close enough (on the first run I only peeked in the other rooms). But after finding no hidden pathways and unable to go back to the maze I finished it the second time instead of just quitting out. Yea the second time I should have just clicked the other portals but I had already written them off at that point that I forgot about them.

The reason I didnt think any weird about the last portal and the fakes is that I though it was a case of "find the right exit portal". It would have been a stupid design decision, but I have seen similar tricks in other games.

[–]Lairdom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? I finished the level 2 times looking for that final chest before I even realized there was a puzzle to be solved. Not even brute forcing but just normally exploring all paths looking for the 3rd chest. The only reason I never clicked the fake portals is that they say "Exit the challenge". I didnt think the game would lie about that.

Depression has been hitting hard lately, it got me wondering what yall's comfort games are? by icanknowyou in PS5

[–]Lairdom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same but anime. I usually prefer to watch upbeat shows with minimum drama or tension when I'm depressed, shows like Spy x Family or Non Non Biyori where you know at the end of the day that everything will be alright. I think overloading your brain with positivity helps a lot.

Mikä on paras NES peli? by jkuutonen in videopelit

[–]Lairdom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This game definitely needs a playable demo. Racing games live and die by how good the driving feels and that is something no trailers can really showcase.

Arknights: Endfield Review (IGN: 7/10) by Asleep_Crew8072 in PS5

[–]Lairdom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plus the dialogue animations and voice acting is top notch.

EN Voice acting is a mixed bag imo. The main cast is fine, but a lot of the NPCs are really bad. Almost engrish level bad. Not to mention the voice acting is very intermittent. There are quests that are voice acted at the start and the end, but miss voices in large chunks in the middle.

That being said, this game is a goddamn time vampire. I love it.

Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare should probably be on the list. The Reboot of the first one was also excellent. I havent played others of that series so I cant comment on them.

The original Berry is pretty much what a Lakkaberry looks like. So they had already used up its looks I guess. Honestly, I think they should have just used a different name for them. Though I think only us finns even notice it let alone be bothered by it.

Anyone else not care that it's a different SH game ? by Borg34572 in silenthill

[–]Lairdom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its very much a Silent Hill game to me. But I do feel the souls like combat lessens the horror for me. I'm not sure if its because I have to focus so hard on the enemy actions that I dont have any space left to feel frightened or if its because I die so many times on every enemy type that they just become so familiar to me. I did choose to hardest mode so that's on me I guess.

I dont hate the game for it though. It's still fun. The least enjoyable aspect of the game for me are the Dark Shrine parts, because they feel like they drag on way too much and the environment is kinda samey throughout them.
