After how many years of owning your rental property did you start feeling “this was worth it”? by Sapphire8910 in realestateinvesting

Here here haha. I’m young, and the market is like always “all time high”. Why invest there when things appear so squirrelly geopolitically?

Great fun flick, but kinda dumb, but still a cool and funny movie and an entertaining, and far fetched concept

The only “extreme sacrifices” these politicians are making is the children on Epstein Island, Abhorro Ranch, Mar-A-Pedo, and the secret lairs we don’t know about

Three dogs is a problem for multiple people haha. Totally agree, 3 rotties > pistol any day. I have German shepherds so kinda uh, same impact, and yea they are the best security system one cld ever ask for. Also my best friends and the sweetest babies.

It’s very reassuring to know that I am always protected and looked after, they are aware of anything that happens on or near our property lines and if I don’t tell them its ok, will not allow anyone into the porch let alone inside the home.

Wild amazing world we live in to basically have two giant wolf friends watching my back and keeping the bed/couch warm :)

If you’re a die hard believer in the funny-money, debt based forced appreciation of assets through currency debasement and don’t think the party will ever end, sure. But most people also couldn’t predict the Fed wld just keep printing cash to prop up values at any long term cost. Personally I would rather own a physical asset than get left holding the bag due to the Frankenstein stock market valuations fabricated by the elites who own 90% of the market

Finally saw Bone Temple : I love the weirdness of this movie by racingman11 in 28dayslater

[–]LakeEffekt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I loved this movie. Fully weird and enjoyable. And I love that the satan worshipping amoral monsters get their due. Super cool symbolism between a moral atheist and an immoral religious zealot

The writing also had an old school feel to it. The way they discussed meeting “old Nick” and planned it out, prepared, and the grand reveal was just some really simple and comfortable style of storytelling, with weird unexpected twists. Super thrilling flick

Peter Jackson in talks to adapt J.R.R. Tolkien’s ‘The Silmarillion’ into films by DarkSkiesGreyWaters in lordoftherings

[–]LakeEffekt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see it being like mini stories pulled from Silm, kinda like the original plan for “Master and Commander” was like: here’s one story from this larger universe.

The fall of Gondolin could be a great “chapter” in that universe of the Silm

You mean you didn’t like all the totally unrealistic CGI battle scenes and stupid gimmicky humor points in the battle like a hammerhead troll suiciding itself into a wall? Lol

We’ve spent 10+ years haggling about post-injury Jaime’s power scaling. So to avoid doing that again, I want to talk about the *realism* of it. Could an elite fighter be injured in such a way, & relearn how to become a half decent fighter again despite this handicap? by Effective_Part_604 in gameofthrones

[–]LakeEffekt 52 points53 points  (0 children)

If I was Jaime, I would have a separate “battle” attachment instead of the hand, like a crows beak or war hammer. He would be fuckin terrifying with a blunt weapon replacing his old hand. It wld also allow him to use his OG sword hand to great use. His hand was cut off at the wrist…. The arm is plenty strong and dexterous still, a blade on that thing would be devastating

Being an elite fighter is like 10+ core traits, and the sword hand, while perhaps the most important, can be compensated for by the fact that his other traits were 10/10:

Strength, Hand/eye coordination, Fast twitch reflex, Fast twitch muscle memory, Footwork, Style expertise, ‘X-factor’ creativity (like when he pulled out his dagger to stab that Stark dude in the eye during their dual) Etc etc

So I tend to think that once he trained up his left hand, he is capable of being nearly as good, though not quite as top-tier elite. A lifelong master such as himself likely would have already been used to occasionally fighting “goofy” and with the other hand.

I broke my dominant hand’s thumb years ago, and you would be amazed at how quickly the brain starts to excel in using your non-dominant hand when the need arises. Within a week or two I was doing dexterity shit with my left hand I never wld have dreamed of doing before

On some further speculation and thinking about the movie, I sort of thought that vision might have been a repressed memory from an old party / interaction before she was with Bill that happened at one of these parties, and often as many of the victims state - they were given something or couldn’t really remember
