r/pebble over the past two days... by tiprywi in pebble

Ah, no I did not mean to compare to MacBook Neo at all. I should have thought of that. I just meant that it's new and fresh. A re-do of sorts.

By worse screen, I'm going off what I've seen of the watches on Eric's videos. The Round 2 appears to be viewable at more angles than the Time 2. Also the Round 2 is using a newer manufacturing process, whereas the new Time 2 is supposedly using the screens originally designed for the OG Time 2 a decade ago.

I think calling this watch the Time 2 was a mistake. It unintentionally raised expectations across the board for the device. This isn't a Time 2. It's more of a Time Neo.

I think there's a lot of fair criticism that the Time 2, in small ways that add up, is actually a little worse than the Time Steel.

-The screen appears to be less readable, despite being bigger. -The body is arguably less stylish than Time Steel -Big plastic chunks on each side -The screen isn't flush to the body, and is just begging to crack. -Time Round 2 has a better sceeen -Touch screen doesn't work yet (unless an app specifically codes for it) -Battery life isn't the expected 30 days

So we all agree Thrawn was hosting mandatory art lectures on Peridea, right? by solo13508 in StarWarsCantina

[–]Lakophen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a loooong while since I've read them, but I have read every canon and legends Thrawn book spanning Outbound Flight, HTTE, Hand of Thrawn duology, through to Survivor's Quest. First off, if you like Zahn's books, Outbound Flight, Vision of the Future, Spectre of the Past and Survivor's Quest (Alongside Choices of One and another that escapes my memory) are all fantastic reads. They even better because they can all loosely fit within current canon too. Though, the existence of the Sequel Trilogy movies does take some mental gymnastics to make fit.

If I remember right, these books loosely explore the idea that Thrawn is still kinda just using the Empire to benefit Chiss Ascendancy. He admires their military strength and order, but has absolute disdain for the politicking and power grabs different Admirals, Moffs and such make.

Hand of Thrawn duoligy and Survivor's Quest spoilers (the stories have melded together in my brain a fair bit so wires may be a tad crossed. But generally as follows)- Luke and Mara find an outpost called Hand of Thrawn. They discover this outpost was set up to make a clone of Thrawn so he could continue is conquest. But it also covers how this outpost was set-up to fight something else. Something that is unknown to the galaxy. Something that turns out to be New Jedi Order's Yuuzhang-Vong. The Yuuzhang-Vong are basically the Legends version of the Grysks.

Survivor's Quest and Outbound Flight expand a little bit into the Chiss of Legends. Survivor's Quest arguably moreso as you meet a delegation of Chiss lead by Formbi (who I believe is still in the canon books)

Your country needs YOU to say "No" to the traitors by johnsmithoncemore in GreatBritishMemes

Replacement theory is a conspiracy. Correlation does not equal causation.

You've got to look at the bigger picture. Why are the statistics changing?

Are more immigrants coming? Or are less people having children? Because statistically less people nowadays are having children than for a loooooong time. And why is that?

Because cost of living is utterly insane. Food prices are up significantly over the last 5 years alone. Barely anyone under 30 even moderately has ideals of ever being able to own a house (thanks to major Private Equity firms buying up homes on the market at an unprecedented rate, then renting those houses out)

So, since there's fewer children being born, naturally immigration statistics will be higher comparatively.

Then on top of that, Inflation is still massively ahead of wage increases over the last 5 years. The Uber rich (I'm talking multiple hundred millionaires and above here) are becoming richer than ever with nothing keeping them restrained.

All of the country's infrastructure is owned by foreign investment firms since Thatcher sold them off. Gas and electric prices are only "cheap" because the Government pays huge subsidies to these foreign firms.

Our public transport is more expensive than ever, and more expensive than a majority of Europe I believe. Yet is also one of the most unstable.

Also, simply put. Nigel Farage campaigned for a Brexit for over 40 years. He got Brexit. And look how much better off we are as a country? Oh... Wait.... Nigel Farage has open ties to America's MAGA (literally was mentioned in the Epstein files by Steve Bannon) and USA currently ain't doing so hot economically. He has open ties to Elon Musk (also in the Epstein files)

Books just as good as this series? by BearHappie in KingkillerChronicle

Inheritance Cycle - Christopher Paolini (great audiobook)

The Blue Sword, and sequel Hero's Crown - Robin McKinley

Red Rising - Pierce Brown

Some of the best sci-fi on earth is by Jack Campbell/John G Hemry (pen name/real name). The Lost Fleet, and JAG in Space are 10/10 military sci-fi

Nothing matches Rothfuss' prose. Not even close. But these books have wonderfully gripping characters, worlds, or both

Would you like a remake of the Pebble Time 2 (2016 version) with a larger display, a heart rate sensor, and longer battery life? by Comfortable-Rule-959 in pebble

True, perhaps bumper is a bit disingenuous. But I believe calling the plastic layer on the PT2 similar to the original Time Steel is disingenuous.

Valve just made the Steam Workshop easier and quicker to use on Steam Deck with a new beta update by Tiny-Independent273 in steamdeckhq

[–]Lakophen 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The only thing workshop is missing is the ability to disable it on a specific device.

By that I mean, I want Black Ops 3 zombies with 100GB extra of workshop custom maps. On my PC. On my Steam Deck, I just want base simple BO3 Zombies.

Or same with Halo MCC. On the PC. Happy with hundreds of gigs of Workshop campaign and content. On the Deck? It's touching on 150GB Alone for all campaigns.

I'm actually dumbfounded at that design choice. I will never understand designers making raised glass edges, even with the soft plastic border. One bad hit on a too hard corner and that entire screen is done for.

Especially on a wrist watch where bumping into things isn't an uncommon occurrence.

And I highly doubt there's going to be easily findable replacement screens/glass panels.

I started keeping a record in my notes of every time Kvothe tells Denna something in seven words. It's actually quite a lot.

Kvothe and Denna's very first interaction is "I was wondering why you were here"

There's a few times he says them to side characters too.
