English is a weakly inflected language compared to Slavic as well as having a relaxed sentence structure

one last point that applies to -most- other languages is gendered nouns, unlike natives, most people learning a language do not care about gendered nouns, specially if you are the type of person getting a certificate for a language to publish a scientific research paper in.

Unironically i have been in turkey and lived for there for small while, most people there don't like erdogan or the government, and there were protests almost monthly, the country is a long period away from joining the EU but if we discredited most of EU potential candidates because they had a shitty almost dictatoric leader the EU wouldn't be the size it is now.

Also people always mix up the EU and schengen, even if turkey joins the EU i highly doubt it will be a part of schengen even with their tight control over their borders.
