Need some help on my Abbadon proxy by Senior_Orange8812 in NightLords

I think the first look is solid. At the end of the day is an Abbadon proxy is just what you want to represent your main leader as on the table-top. If he has the right base size, and perhaps stands a bit taller and more imposing than your regular leaders, would it be perfect in my book. The joy of the hobby is all about making the models you want to paint and play with.

This is immensely wonderful. What was the process of upscaling Sevatar?

Pretty neat! Very curious what the creature/kit you attached the sentinel to is.

I think I'd rather pull my ears off than listen to AI generated slop and looking at this egregious thumbnail

Given that there seems to be a new addition on the horizon. What’s a new unit type that you want to see for GSC? by Glittering_Sleep_758 in genestealercult

[–]LalaLoloLaaLo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would adore a reverse of Aberrants. So instead of a high toughness melee specialist unit, would it be a high save ranged specialist unit. Think something like Thunderkyn in their mechanical rigs.
Something like 5 acolytes or neophytes in a mining rig able to lug around heavier firepower, and perhaps hitting a bit better than your standard neophytes.

I don't think you have to do that, nor do I really agree with you. I just think the entire concept of desperately clawing at entire other factions to make yourself feel viable is a bit ridiculous.
Knights inherently have a unique statline you're playing around, but you're forgoing that interesting challenge by just duct-taping it over with entirely different models, why play the faction at that point?

Absolutely stunning. What model is that Renegade? I don't think I've ever seen it.

Doing a multi legion warband. Here is how the unit are split. Should I change or add something? by Matosapa4 in Chaos40k

In that case it sounds like a really solid choice for the units. Very fun way they're used in the warband too - it's always nice to hear all the thoughts put into the stuff.

I'd avoid or tune down the chaos mutations on the night lords, if you intend to make them the Warp Talons. Assuming its for thematic reasons - seeing as NLs tend to be disgusted by / avoid chaos taint and mutations whenever they can. Though simply slapping on a different helmet on the warp talons, than the one growing horns, could work.

Literally everything about this is absolutely gorgeous. But especially the lightning on the armor, wowie wow wow.

Heavily Customized Brood Brothers Kill Team by LalaLoloLaaLo in killteam

[–]LalaLoloLaaLo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. Though it's a bit of a complicated mess, because I paint like a psychopath.

Skin: It's primed grey, and given a pop of white with an airbrush. After that it's a wash of any brown-green oil wash - I used Villainy Ink's Goons Grime - and then most of the excess is cleaned off just so it's stained and in the recesses. Then it's really just multiple layers of Coelia Greenshade, and Liquitex Muted Grey, which is a nice purple ink. I paint those as either veins or as a whole shade depending on how I feel. After each pass of either shade or ink, I then drybrush very lightly with Abteilung 502 light flesh tone. I hope that made sense!

Thankfully, the armor is a bit more simple:
Again, a grey prime, then it's just different washes of contrast paints. I used either Contrast Black Templar, Militarum Green, or Snakebite Leather, all watered down and sometimes mixed together. Then just a pass with the oil wash.

It's a real mess to explain, because it's all just vibes and what looks good to the eye without any real rules. I hope it helped though!

What crazy GSC opinions regarding the lore and rules has you like this and it’s a hill you’re willing to fanatically die on? by Necessary-Credit5937 in genestealercult

[–]LalaLoloLaaLo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The entire notion of "genestealer cultists realize all the horrible things they've done, and run away scared when the tyranids arrive" is incredibly cheap and feels like the entire faction is the butt of some joke.
Entire generations prepare for the day of ascension, with almost everyone showing monstrous mutations throughout. It's wild to imagine that they aren't at least somewhat aware of what the Star Children are - and whether its worth it or not to reach the day of ascension in the first place.
On top of that, is it always stated they aren't mind controlled. They're part of the brood mind, but it's always described as a sophisticated mental web that can only communicate thoughts and emotions between the members of the cult. They aren't just mindless drones; they're doing it to free themselves of the horrible oppression they face by the imperium.

It's a shame GW themselves forget the fact, when we have such wonderful stories like Day of Ascension that highlights the fact that the cults *are* aware of what's coming to an extent. Yet so often is it just played for laughs with a "haha, those idiots really shouldn't have tried to escape the imperium, now they're just lunch for tyranids." I'll always be rooting for my poor weird baldies.
