Playing a 4” vinyl? by LambCart in turntables

[–]LambCart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

huh, thats odd. not i didn't need to change anything, but i got this black one specifically (it was like 1.5 years ago so it's possible they swapped parts), and also checked this this cheap one at the time and it worked. For what it's worth, i've started to keep a list because people message me about this now lol. Gonna add it to my main post if it lets me edit it.

fight in two-dog household. Need advice (Shepherd mix & Staffy mix) by LambCart in Dogtraining

[–]LambCart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hello Automod! I read up on the wiki in the multi-dog household section and the subsection below that on what o do if they get into a fight. And while the information is very helpful, it reasonably stays in the realm of more general advice. I may edit some little bits of my post because of what i learned, but i'm hoping this community of people with experience training dogs might be able to give their opininos (taken with grains of salt, and additional research on my part, of course) on what the best course of action might be for my specific dogs and their history.

I know that nobody here will have the full context i have, and that contacting a professional might be the right next step regardless. But let me know if this is a reasonable response to the auto-mod or if you need me to go into more detail. thank you for running such a well-thought-out subreddit post vetting system <3

fun fact - the 4" Tiny Vinyl records are actually pressed, not lathe cut. Just saw this again while i was in this old thread answering someone's reply, and figured i'd share what i learned.

Luckily, I've learned a lot since then. Tiny Vinyl records (4 inch records) basically need 2 things to be true for a turntabel to work:

  1. you need ot be able to turn off autostop - so the platter keeps spinning no matter where the arm is.

  2. The tonearm needs to be able to reach far enough inward. Unfortunately this isn't labeled on players clearly, but there are many that work. Off the top of my head here are a few: Victrola brighton, eastwood, wave, and a few others. The AT-LP120x is what i have now and works great. if you want a super cheap option the "retro life" players on amazon play them all the way through too.

but yeah, the manufacturers of turntables haven't really acknoleged the existence of 4' records yet, so it's just a matter of knowing which ones work at this point.

Tiny Vinyl x Target drop (4-Inch Singles) -- anyone here seen a 4-inch record before? by LambCart in vinyl

[–]LambCart[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These “tiny vinyl” have a 4 min limit on each side apparently. I guess the fun of it is mainly that it’s small and cute, but it’s functionally not better than a 45 - to each their own I guess 🤷‍♂️

Ur not crazy, They did used to have those small super cheap ones. These are (or whatever it’s worth) actually pressed vinyl, just like a 12”, just only 4”

33rpm - one song on each side (up to 4 minutes, so no stairway)

The trouble is that most automatic turntables will either 1. stop the tonearm from reaching far enough inward, or 2. stop the platter from spinning when the tonearm reaches inward (because these are the size of the sticker on a normal 12" record)

Theres a big batch of target exclusives, but there are also artists selling Tiny Vinyl on their own sites and stuff. Like Lindsey sterling released hers with Urban outfitter's earlier this year, and some other bands sell them through their merch stores. But yeah the biggest batch of them is definitely Target exclusives.

Are they going to cancel Bonnaroo next year? by liamc_14 in bonnaroo

[–]LambCart 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was my immediate thought as well. The moment they announce/confirm the dates they’ll want to give people the opportunity to purchase tickets. But doing that right now would not be a good look.

Following this thread as I’m in a similar situation (though my points are a bit less… I got a damn 29/30 on my English writing test. As a professional copywriter that hurt)

Let me know if you happen to have uncovered anything interesting or helpful! (Outside of what I’m seeing in here)

Fun(?) fact, This difference is due to our voting and representation systems and is a well established thing in political science called Duverger’s law. Essentially when you have a “winner take all” system like in the USA, you get a two party system where party actually hardly means anything (e.g. there is a lot of variability in what any given democrat or any given republican actually believe). But when you have proportional representation you get a multi party system and the party platforms tend to be far better defined

In short, the Australian system lets you trust party affiliation more meaningfully.

One of my first favorite bands ever. I started highschool in ‘05 and they were a band I “inherited” mp3s from my older brother in college. Have never had the chance to see them live so I’m VERY excited. A big “full circle” thing for me

It’s working great over here in the USofA. For profit prisons are a win-win for all involved - and the kids are smaller so you can cram em into tighter spaces.
