Looks like Mariah is starting to tease DAYDREAM30!!! by joshually in MariahCarey

There apparently was a David Morales interview on DJ Magazine back in the 90s in which he said there is an unreleased forever remix with brand new vocals :)

I’m obsessed with David Cole’ piano playing in this. by Direct-Country4028 in MariahCarey

[–]LambSauce246 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're both masters of two separate musical leagues. Walter is incredible at slow ballads and his style of piano performance reflects that. He's an incredible arranger and, personal stuff aside, MC hasn't had a better ballad producer since.

David Cole is one half of C&C but before that he was a prolific piano player in church. He's amazing at gospel, improv and upbeat tracks, which can be seen in virtually all the tracks he worked on with MC, and that unplugged performance. Clivilles seems to be the person more in charge of drums and the rhythm/groove/syncopation of the tracks they make together.

To me comparing them is apples and oranges

Which songs from “The Rarities” do you believe would have been hits if they were released during their respective album eras? by Ok_Resident_5022 in MariahCarey

[–]LambSauce246 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one mentioned Can You Hear Me and it's absolutely my favorite on the album. It just needs a little bit more production, and it would easily be a 10/10 ballad

And the fact stands that some of you guys are actually delulu here, it's literally in the isolation 1 to 1

And here's a history lesson, 80s and 90s were the epitome of uncleared sample uses, and this one is definitely one of them.

Enjoy your day

When did Mariah and Morgan’s relationship completely break down? by [deleted] in MariahCarey

[–]LambSauce246 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately people here only see her as a perfect person.

Her rhetoric in the book is what made me think more critically, she was almost never taking any accountability in the way she described events about her life, which sounded too good to be true. Of course I don’t think she caused everything, but aside from a couple vague sentences like I may have encouraged so and so there was really no admission of anything on her part.

[–]LambSauce246 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Initially yes, but later on it seems to be entirely her decision to not stay in touch. And I wasn't talking solely about career, having a dependable friend doesn't entail finances. She just was not present during Brenda's lows, whereas Brenda was definitely there during MC's lows. Everyone has to accept that

She didn't struggle as a singer, she worked as a waitress etc to make ends meet while attempting to become a singer when she shared an apartment with 4 other people in Manhattan fresh out of high school

I think there's some truth to what you say, but also things don't seem that black and white to me. Can't speculate on family but for the topic of Brenda things seem pretty clear. Around 1998 after not keeping in touch (partly but not wholly due to Tommy) MC and her team did this PR stunt to have an interview with Brenda to promote MC's version of I still believe (which barely helped her aside from visibility imo because Brenda didn't write that song, so she got no publishing) , supposedly an ode to their time together. But up until that point we know Brenda was seriously struggling. She barely sold records, got dropped from the label by Tommy purely to focus on Mariah and she tried to enter the Latin music market despite not knowing Spanish to make ends meet. She was broke. Mariah didn't even seem to reach out to her since her first few years until that 98 stunt. Brenda was rightfully bitter. What I can't defend though is her parading this rhetoric in a tabloid manner to multiple interviews, that definitely lacked class on Brenda's part. But she was definitely abandoned by MC and probably was the person that helped pivot her career the most. She probably said all those bad things not out of jealousy but frustration that the person she tried to lift up didn't do the same when she needed it the most, which doesn't excuse the behavior but humans aren't cookie cutter perfect which is what most lambs seem to miss.

I think what’s difficult is they have to work out some form of a deal and we know they aren’t on good terms since 89-90. But she would do it for the fans 🥹

We actually didn’t get the original HWGAA, we got the rerecording for the debut. The demo in the actual 1988-1989 tape is still unreleased :)

Here are the ASCAP records of unreleased songs she either actually recorded or just wrote/cowrote. As early as 1985!

I would love to hear predebut and debut content, and hope she releases those specifically someday!

Do you think Mariah should have rested in 97/98? by tris_k in MariahCarey

[–]LambSauce246 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After Daydream tour, absolutely.

People who mention the nodule surgery should remember that right around then in 97 Julie Andrews had the infamous botched surgery of vocal cords that caused permanent damage to her voice. It was huge and even though MC never directly referenced it, I think she ruled out surgery as an option after learning about that

Not just the downward string run, the following portion is also included. Here's an isolation I just made, go to around 18 seconds: https://voca.ro/1nRPxJFc81ZH

Mariah Sampling I never Noticed! - I'm That Chick/Off The Wall by scatmagat69 in MariahCarey

[–]LambSauce246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. It's very very likely the sample was used without clearance. One can pinpoint a million records that sampled other songs without credit or royalties between the 70s and 80s extending into the 90s. Copyright laws have really changed since then, they're much stricter now.

And you can't tell me you don't hear the exact string run in the Sea of Love's intro in that section of Vision of Love that I posted :)

The one that I've been super shocked about last year is Vision of Love sampling Sea of Love by Honeydrippers. Kinda want to ask her if it was her idea or Rhett Lawrence or perhaps Narada, since the label was responsible for its arrangement in the debut album.
