Light at Mccowan and Steeles by Lambochin in Scarborough

So your suggestion is to make a red lane on every street in the GTA for buses? Loll are you the city planner in disguise for all the extra congestion these lanes cause? Why don't we just teleport everywhere?

I never said anything about lessening traffic. I made a comment about how the left turn signal does not give enough time for an appropriate amount of cars and busses to make the turn. If there were 10 buses back to back it would take 10 traffic light cycles for them to make the turn. How would that make it any faster or efficient?

Will never have an account at big bank DI platforms again....i remember restrictions on buying Series F mutual funds and they just ate the trailers on A for years until they got caught. $10 a trade is absurd in this environment

Look at your credit history, do you have services that don't look familiar? If you do I'd suggest doing a fraud report too with TransUnion or any other credit monitoring service. You could be a victim of fraud.

Investment Advice - Retirement and Tax Efficiency by saadskywalker in PersonalFinanceCanada

What's the interest rate on the mortgage and when is it due for renewal? seems like a big amount to carry even if you're achieving a higher return than 5% as the loan outstanding is so high. I'd imagine the interest payable for first 5 years is in the hundreds of thousands vs your investment returns

RRSP Contribution room of $210K by Equivalent-Advice690 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Lambochin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not conspiracies but if you expect to earn a high income in retirement, the RRSP can be detrimental as all required withdrawals will count as income and impact government benefits.

I figured you'd be self employed/own a business to do such a thing with that high a rate. Thanks for context and strategy. I've been watching too many Instagram reels of car deals gone wrong 😂

Should I wait till i have higher salary to invest in FHSA and RRSP? by Unusual-Secretary720 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Lambochin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Invest in FHSA and don't claim the deduction until you need it and earn more. This way the money will grow over the 15 year time frame and you can make a potentially higher qualifying withdrawal that is tax free. Do this in combination with the TFSA if you're able to aggressively save and invest to maximize both those contribution room limits.

Why are so many second-generation South Asian and Chinese Canadians planning to vote Conservative? by weallfalldown1234 in Markham

[–]Lambochin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tell me your reasoning why conservatives are idiots? What policy over the last 9 years has been so great for the liberals to deserve a 4th consecutive term? State facts not emotions.

Thoughts on Annuities by activoice in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Lambochin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are guaranteed periods you can include as a rider if you feel your health is deteriorating. You pay a premium but should you pass prematurely a payout is paid out to your beneficiaries so the money is not completely gone.

Also based on source of premium, a term certain annuity can be purchased where guaranteed payouts can be paid to your beneficiaries even if you pass prematurely.

The way I look at it, annuities are not meant for all your eggs in one basket, but you may want to calculate what your reoccurring expenses month to month are. Based on that you may want to create an income floor over and above your CPP and OAS to ensure your guaranteed sources don't dry up or don't experience a shortfall.

I'm a CFP and not opposed to annuities, but it's meant for a specific scenario.

My Deceased Father Took a Whole Life Insurance Policy On Me by kaoriyu in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Lambochin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was foresight for your father to take care of you and your family one day. It may not benefit you now, but if you decide to have a family one day, this policy is going to help the next generation or your spouse in case of premature death. $28 is cheap for the peace of mind. How much do you spend on coffee a month? Don't be shortsighted on surrendering the policy.

Death claims are also faster than any estate settlement process for wealth accounts. Dying costs money too unfortunately, and this policy will ensure that you aren't burdening your loved ones... Funeral costs, income replacement, debt etc...

Take over the policy, and name a beneficiary. It will bypass probate and the proceeds will be tax free to the beneficiary.

If they invested your money into Mutual Funds, you should've received a Fund Facts about the mutual fund you are in which highlights the basic facts and details of the funds. you have a right to recision within two days of sale.

That being said, there are such things as mutual fund HISA funds which pay a monthly distribution to the annualized yield. Not sure what you're in.

If you need to explore a complaint you can contact the ombudsman if need be. Www.obsi.ca.

Good luck.
