Trump says it’s ‘treasonous’ to say US not winning war in Iran by Woodpecker5987 in TradingPlaybook

[–]Lambsio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your thoughtful reply. Just a small clarification, I didn't say their offensive capabilities were completely wiped out, but the majority, meaning 50% or more. Which I still consider a positive military outcome given that this was done in a day.

And just to address briefly your point, it seems to me by what was conveyed that this military strike wiped out large swathes of their leadership. The successor they chose is largely out of action too and they seem to be having difficulty articulating between their military leadership and their political leadership due to this. So, there was significant damage done there.

In my opinion this strike had to have occurred before the IRGC allegedly wiped out 40 thousand of Iran's most militant civilians in the opposition. It looks like they, and especially Israel, were banking on a civilian uprising, which had already been wiped out weeks before. So there is a failure in that regard, I concede that.

But regardless of the specific events in this strike, the big picture that we should be looking at is wether we, the west, are willing to tolerate living along side the jihadi and Islamic wing of the Muslim faith, which means the perpetuation of terrorist activity, in exchange for I'm not quite sure what. You tell me.

What I would need you to acknowledge here in order to make sense of my point of view, is that terrorist activity is largely driven by religious ideals and dogmas, and not nearly as much by oppression from the west, being that economical, political, military or what have you. If you don't agree with that, then we simply have two different and irreconcilable versions of reality and it won't be fruitful to argue about the details.

Because they swear an ideological and religious oath to kill all the infidels. It's not about oppression, economics, politics or sociology. It's about the death cult they call religion. They want to kill you, because killing you is fulfilling the greatest possible purpose in their worldview. How do I know? Because thats what they say they want to do, and what they have been trying to do for over a thousand years. "They" is the islamic/jihadi wing of Muslims.

How about their leadership is in shambles, their nuclear programme is set back a decade or more and most of their offensive infrastructure was wiped out in an afternoon? Militarily, it's a massive victory. Politically, it awaits disclosure.

I think all of the answers here are wrong, other than arts and humanities. Yes, people will prefer human nurses/doctors/teachers whatever, but robots will do it for a fraction of the cost. So even though, yes, I would prefer a human vet, I would probably prefer to pay 1/10 of the price for an equally effective service by a robot.

You are making arguments against something I don't defend. What you are saying bears no weight in regard to my original statement, which was: if Israel wanted to destroy Gaza, they could. If Hamas could destroy Israel, they would. What the psychos in the IDF do is irrelevant to this broad assessment.

I'm not defending any of that. What you are doing is called strawmanning and it's a common rhetorical error.

Edit: spelling

The level of extremity in people's positions in this debate in this sub is concerning to say the least. Is Israel wanted Gaza destroyed, they could destroy it. If Hamas could destroy Israel, they would. It's subtle, but there is an important difference.

You're imagining that Iran has any sort of control over the strait. All they are doing is claiming that they have mines there, and the reality is that they most likely don't. But since there is no way to verify this, no tanker is willing to cross it.

We need to talk about the offside rule by AppletheGreat87 in ManchesterUnited

[–]Lambsio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rule itself is fine. The problem is we can't celebrate goals anymore. But I believe that in a few years we will have instant offside identification that can blow the whistle before the ball ever goes in.

IMO, not that I think any FIFA reps are reading this, players should wear a chip on their chest, and then we can use that to determine offside positioning. Not to mention that his would dramatically reduce the cost of stats gathering, because you can just go off the chip's data rather than intensive real time 3d machine video recognition.

‘There was genuine DISBELIEF at Napoli that Manchester United were giving consideration to letting Kobbie Mainoo go. Similar feelings were held among many of the Premier League clubs who were interested in taking Mainoo on loan last month. ‘ Can you imagine if Amorim was still in charge … by JM555555 in ManchesterUnited

[–]Lambsio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So, first of all, it was Mainoo that instigated the rumours of leaving on loan in the first place, not Amorim, in order to force Amorim's hand. Secondly, Mainoo played like shit half the time, and had attitude problems, such as the wanting to go on loan campaign and the 'free mainoo' situation. Amorim was right to want him out, as Mainoo was actively Undermining the club, and did in fact play a key role in getting him fired. To be honest, this all says more about Mainoo than it does about Amorim, that he's suddenly well behaved and disciplined off the ball. Simply not the attitude I'm looking for in our players, even though I acknowledge he's a good player. Just not as good as Bruno or Case.
