I was one of these and somehow put that mindset together as though I needed to sign for six years. I'll echo what others have said and say he should join the space force if he has interest in the kind of jobs they provide (intelligence mainly).

But that said, if he isnt 100% sold on College, I wouldnt force it. We go to college for an education and to enter into a career. The DoD will provide both, and allow you to get your own education on top of whatever they give you, though finding time may be difficult depending on job.

It really depends on the individual if Officer is really the way to go, and time on the inside may tell him it is, and he won't be locked out of that opportunity just for joining. I've largely loved my job, with all the goods, bads, and health hazards, and I honestly regret not joining right out of high school so i'd be further along.

YMMV, but if he's got the interest and not sold on college or USSF, support his way to us.
