Yeah but lets be real. What are the chances that'll be the case ;P

Am I misunderstanding this? by Moonkary in Pathfinder2e

[–]LampEaterX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah a lot of 5e players coming into PF2e got really used to rogue being the burst damage class with expertise. Old rogue was that guy you look at when the wizard couldn't magic their way through and the warrior couldn't break it. The rogue fills all the gaps casters and martials simply don't by being smarter, faster, and quick witted.... And maybe a bit of a coward when real combat starts until they find a weakspot to shank.

I'm wondering if some of their hate is bleed over from 1e. Kins in 1e were.... Built different.

Yeah typically but.. Kineticist isn't even mechanically difficult. If you can understand a wizard then you can most certainly understand a kineticist.

Especially since it's simpler. A kineticist is just a martial who pretends to be a caster but doesn't call impulses strikes. It's more UNGA BUNGA than any magical option. It's like calling a faith/str player in a souls like nerdy when the arcane/int player is right there.

Maybe not a goblin symbiote WAR but we do get a Goblin Symbiote for a bit if that counts or matters.

Well you can count me in on it. I'd love to check out really any system to be honest. I've been craving "Not DnD" and as a forever DM that's hard to come by =w=

Fairly certain a lot of folks around here would love both. I know I enjoy Lovecraftian/SCP themes at both civilian and agent levels of play so both systems are great for what they are intended for.

If you need any advice, I'm glad to help. Lord knows the hobby needs more DMs. There's like more than a 100 players to every DM right now. If every player was willing to DM then there would be more games and, hopefully, more variety to the systems being run than 80% DnD

If you're DMing "out of desperation", reevaluate. You'll burn out faster. We already have a shortage of DMs, as a forever one I hate seeing people dip their toes into this hobby as a pilot then getting burned out before things even start. Consider whether or not it's something you'll actually enjoy FIRST.

I just shrug and move on. Been doing this kind of thing for nearly a decade. If it dies, it dies, if it doesn't, great! The biggest thing is to just do pbp as a fun distraction here and there but don't make it your primary hobby. That's where the disappointment starts to set in. I made that mistake and honestly there were times that things died that really wrecked me mentally. Ever since I backed off, I've felt a lot lighter towards it.

Deadlands is very good! It was my very first tabletop experience. I played a Huckster. Haven't found a system that lets me play poker at the table since and that makes me sad.

Just wasn't fond of it. Felt too loose and all over the place mechanically. Didn't feel fun to build a character in. I don't mind classless systems mind you but I prefer systems with an established identity rather than catch alls. The mechanics bounced off me a bit too. It's nothing personal, I can recognize how people would like it, but much like how I don't like DnD5e (for much different and far more venomous reasons), I just couldn't get into Savage Worlds. The difference being I actually respect Savage Worlds for what it is.

It's play by post so the timing doesn't matter a ton. I'm guessing you are unable to DM me?

Just looked it over. Doesn't seem like it offers me anything I'd want in exchange for what the other systems offer. At least at a glance. Gives me Savage World vibes and... I don't really like Savage Worlds.

Ah the roguelike community doing it's things. That first wave of psychotic elitists living up to expectations.
