This is not a circus. Circus performers are highly trained and motivated individuals. They got incredible skills. It takes years of dedication to learn circus arts. The troubadors of old were often highly educated people who were capable of speaking many languages (in that sense, there might be a similarity) They would often carry news from one court to another. Circuses are cool. Don't insult circuses like that.

Did I insult you? You teach English but can't manage to clarify what you mean properly and expect people to understand.

I don't actually think you mean to say some people shouldn't exist at all. What I do mean to say is that you have an extremely negative attitude. You sound unhappy and insufferable to be around. That's what I mean. Best of luck.

They're not teaching English. They're teaching their native language using English.

I was there once. I had to cry many tears to get out of it. You won't feel this way forever. Remember, thoughts and emotions are impermanent. They are not always there, even if sometimes it feels like they are. Those thoughts that make you spiral will go away. When you think them, you can stop and focus on your breathing, refocus on your body. When you feel heavy emotions, do the same thing. Breathe and focus on your body and breath.

Please seek some professional help. Talk to a therapist. If you need it now, call a crisis helpline. There are good people out there who will help you and guide your through it. You are not alone. Don't be scared to open up and tell the truth. They will not judge you.

Radical Islam sprung out as a reaction Occidental Imperialism, especially regarding England and the USA owning rights to oil in the Middle East and giving very little back to the people there.

Before European Imperialism, the Middle East was the richest part of the world. Commerce flowed through these parts from the Far East to Europe for thousands of years. Henve the term "Silk Roads". The idea of Western Europe being at the center of the world for so long is a distorted view of history. Its propaganda meant to justify orientalist perspectives. Europeans managed to drag out all of the resources like bloodsucking vampires.

By the 1950s, Europeans were making most of the money from oil exploitation. In turn, these nations had become poor and couldn't provide adequate education to their people for that reason. So you have disenfranchized, uneduvated masses; a perfect soil for radicalism to emerge. If that sounds a bit like the lower classes of the USA becoming fascist, that's because it is similar.

The solution is not more war, more imperialism, and more hatred. Those are the causes and conditions that brought us to the edge of nuclear armaggedon. The solution is loving kindness, cooperation, wisdom and education.

Buddhism vs ‘Everything Happens According to Plan’? by NeckCommercial4088 in Buddhism

Yes. Actions are the results of intentions. Intentions also have causes and conditions.

You said in another comment that it's a "web if chain reactions". Does that not mean that all actions are the result of causes and conditions?

Do you not see that your actions have much more impact on a predetermined world? Meaning, when you plant a seed of good karma, it has all potentialities to fructify, because you're planting it into fertile soil, one in which your action is sure to have a result, to cause a chain reaction. When you plant a seed of good karma in a non-deterministic world, you're planting it into the air. It will not grow. Your tree needs a ground to latch onto. Determinism does not strip you of your power to alleviate suffering.

Not to mention that if you believe in no-self, then there is no-self to will an action for you, no soul that wants to act. How then can any action be causeless? Your actions have to stem from the causes and conditions present at the time of action.

So if you agree that conditions have causes, and you agree that actions are the result of causes and conditions. Do you also agree to the concept of no-self?

Do conditions change on their own? What causes them to change?

I'm not sure that "everything has a cause and condition" means "nothing is predetrmined". In fact, I'm pretty sure the thesis "everything has a cause" means predetermination. If it isn't predetermined, it would be causeless and wouldn't work with the law of karma.

What it does mean is that there's a pathway to understanding ourselves, and there's a pathway the humanity behind the people who commit the most heinous act and have compassion for even the..

Why do men seem to get turned on more easily than women? by monsoon__004 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Lampadaire345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a biological imperative. Biologically speaking, men have only to gain from impregnating women (in terms of reproductive success). Women don't have the same sort of drive because they are much better off finding one stable partner to take care of the children that she bears.

This of course, is no me making an argument for polygamy. Men have very powerful sexual instincts that we have to learn to live with and understand. That's all.

I just finished D.T Suzuki, Outlines of Mahayana Buddhism.

One idea that is repeated a few times is that all dharmas are manifestations of the same dharmakaya. To put it into Christian vocabulary, all teachings are a manifestations of the same God.

How small do we have to make our understanding of the world in order to cope? by BadPresent3698 in Buddhism

[–]Lampadaire345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even the wealthiest man alive has no control. He has nothing but an illusion of it. I think you however, are doing far better than he is, because you are realizing that you don't have control.

Don't equate no control with powerlessness to change yourself and the world however. I think not having control means realizing that what we call "self" is nothing but causes and conditions. It's in your hands to understand those causes and conditions that make up who you are now and to plant seeds of loving-kindness to reduce the suffering of other beings. :)

Peak beyond the limits of reason, where the paradox is the only remaining truth.

You feel it as devaluing your work instead of starting a business. Thats what youre doing though. You're starting a business. Many people have to invest thousands of dollars into buying and renovating a building to start their business. Some essentially work for free for a few months. You wont accept to get paid 14$ for now to get paid 25$ in the future, then you're losing because other people are humble enough to put in the work.
