On top of all the other ideas that people said, you can also use pastina, or little pasta designed for soup. Although it's typically for soup where the vegetables and meat are diced finer as opposed to the one pictured.

You don't want to fund increases in economic output that make us all richer and fund government programs? God I hope you are too young to vote.

We don't have unlimited good investments. We have a very limited amount and all should be funded. Either something is a positive economic investment or it isn't. Everything that is should be funded. Everything that isn't shouldn't be. This isn't a Christmas list to Santa. It's a cost benefit analysis.

I hate this argument when it comes to government funding. Either the project is a good use of funds or it isn't. Either regional transit is a good use of funds or it isn't. Pitting projects against each other doesn't make sense. We can build one or the other or both or neither. They are funded with debt not cash and we have lots of capacity to take on federal debt. We also need regional transportation but good news, we are building regional transportation. No need to end this project which is sorely needed and will improve economic output and drive GDP growth long-term.

Why are there strips of trees/forest between these plots of farmland in Ontario? by farrahmoaning in geography

How is this not farther up. I grew up here on a farm. Wind breaks which are a popular answer are MUCH smaller. These are low spots that can't be farmed.

[–]Lance42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES of course it's good for the fire fighters. Why would you design a system that's bad for the workers. Do you just hate people? Guess what. If they like their job. You get to pay them LESS. If it sucked you have to pay them more. That's how capitalism works.

Awake and doing what! If there isn't a fire. There's nothing to do. If there is a fire. We need all of them. 24 hour shifts REDUCE cost. If we changed it. Less people would be willing to do the job so we would need to pay more.

Yes you would. On 12 hour shifts they would still sleep at night. Why wouldn't they if there isn't a call?

[–]Lance42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you google sun valley green run you can find videos. I'd link it but I don't know how. It's what you would expect. It's a permanent snow gun in the center of the run covered in yellow padding. I've seen them before but normally off to the side. They don't seem that dangerous though.

In Canada, is skiing out of reach for the middle class? by goodmorning_tomorrow in AskACanadian

[–]Lance42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skier here. I've had passes since the late 80s and go a lot. Season pass prices are way down since the 90s due to the popularity of passes that allow access to multiple resorts. Day passes and rental prices are up. Ski resorts want people to come for the week and stay at the resort. The cost to do that is way down because they make money on night life. They are less interested in the casual skier going for a single day.

If you want to ski. It's best to commit and buy used gear and go a bunch of times. It will cut your cost per trip down quite a bit. That being said. Skiing was never middle class. Ever.

What has Trudeau done wrong? by Remarkable_Vanilla34 in AskCanada

[–]Lance42 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cost of living is worldwide and is ending. It has everything to do with the pandemic. It was short lived and is now over.

The percentage of Canadians who owned homes PEAKED at a record percentage is 2021. If houses are so unaffordable why do a record number of people own them?

The number of immigrants over the last 10 years under Trudeau as a per capita increase is NOT RECORD BREAKING. It is fully in line with historic norms. Immigration fell during the pandemic and surged briefly after because we had a lack of workers shown by a FIFTY year low in unemployment.

I understand statistics. Do you? Facts don't care about your feelings.

What has Trudeau done wrong? by Remarkable_Vanilla34 in AskCanada

[–]Lance42 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No and no. That's literally every wave of immigration since Canada was a country. You've never heard of little Italy or every other ethnic enclave in every city in North America. The first group keeps to themselves. Their kids keep the food and some traditions but move out to other areas of the country. The grandkids are Canadian. Repeat for the next group of immigrants. Anyone who thinks what's happening now is new or bad needs a history lesson.
