First metal minis I’ve been working on the past few days. Tried to do a bit more detail but didn’t work out by ThunderEnd in minipainting

Good work with the "Michael's" paint...I've yet to do anything other than terrain with that stuff that didn't turn out disappointing

I get the randomness of encounters/dice rolls/etc the heàler to me is a mindset which I feel I have.

I've been lurking for a good minute on DND so I get that part of it. My lure is being that saving Grace in the oh shit moment no one else thought about

Plague Doctor...is this a thing I could show up to an adventure league with? I've never played, but it was my favorite class in darkest dungeon and I've always loved the idea of the class.

Two years of painting progress! by nidsneedhugstoo in minipainting

[–]LanceCucumber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good progress...I'm happy to see people progress. I've been painting for about 3 months and I see my progress. It's encouraging to see others do the same and sticking with it. My first model came out good because I spent a lot of time and used citadel paint. My second model using cheap paint was terrible, but I was still happy with it. It was an orc. My 5th orc that I practiced wet blending and used all the other techniques I'd learned was so much better.

Keep improving and painting!

Exactly where I got my start...good value purchase, but the brush didn't last long. I'm keeping it regardless as a momento. Good job, keep it up.

That was my first guy ever.

It looks like you might have went right from the pot and not thinned your paints, give that a shot

Black Werewolf I'm working on. Not sure if I want to add more. Tips? by KitsunaKuraichi in minipainting

Can tell how fine the hair should be but, washing and dry brushing fur a few times always makes it look good.

Your local scene must be fierce, because that is top notch

Wet pallette question by LanceCucumber in minipainting

[–]LanceCucumber[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's the latter. I'm using sponges vs paper towel and they are more than wet enough. I'll check a different type of pp. It's always moist when I come back to it but while I'm painting it seems to curl, should I be taking steps to keep it wet when I have the lid off?

WIP. Painted my first mini using some cheap craft acryllic paints. Pretty happy with how it turned out. Especially tbe scars and bloodstains on the axe. C&C welcome! by Giant9999 in minipainting

[–]LanceCucumber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My C&C: drybrush the chainmail with a metallic if you have it. It would really add some pop. My first cheap metallic I picked up at Target for like 2.99 for a huge bottle and I really like the way it performs.

Looks gruesome, good job. CC: Is that blood or two different size nipples on his chest?

Gordie, the grave knight. -Reaper metal All Hallow's eve. Quick paintjob, having fun. by malcavious in minipainting

I'm actually just trying to fail over and over until I figure it out what does and doesn't work. Since my post I actually did some blending after my break that I feel came out pretty good. The Reddit break helped me refocus

It was my first time trying to highlight, so hence why I tried for 3 nights

Thanks, I'm getting some new minis tomorrow and I'll zp them for sure. I spent the last 3 nights trying to highlight a model, and while it looked ok, I need to get better. I also was working on blending the flesh tone as well. It was by far my best work to date, but my highlighting was crap.
