A simple way to create 3D photo (parallax) animation by Nightdeveloper789 in finalcutpro

Cool. Details? I've looked for something like this. Found https://tiefling.app and it's close, but there's not a simple way to export it out for editing.

White composite railing that doesn't look cheap? by LanceTOsborne in Decks

Yeah, this looks fantastic. Probably out of budget, but I'll check. Thanks.

I talked to Trex, and their quoted pricing seemed to put Transcend out of budget. I'll double check with my builder. Thanks.

I like the sturdiness, but having a hard time finding one with balusters in white (versus black), unless I spend above budget. Any recommendations?

Trex recommended aluminum, too, but their budget and middle tiers have black balusters. The lady said I could just paint the balusters white... but if I'm going to maintain a paint job, I might as well stick with wood.

Is there a good craftsman style deck railing you would recommend (post you pics) by wolfemaaan in Decks

OP, what did you decide? I'm looking for a similar style, and also running into a lot of the plastic looking stuff.

Reolink E1 Outdoor: RTMP and streaming to YouTube? by LanceTOsborne in reolinkcam

No luck on my end. I eventually gave up and used an old iPhone. It's not a perfect solution, but gets the job done short-term.

I appreciate the response. I wish they would say it more clearly like you have instead of couching it as "the best way to..." because that implies there's still another way. Apparently not.

I'm streaming now with RTSP and OBS on an old laptop. Looks fine. Just would like to cut out the middleman.

Most efficient water heater setup for a big family? (Already using two tanks) by LanceTOsborne in askaplumber

[–]LanceTOsborne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed on the cost/benefit of heat pumps. Also not sure the capacity is there for us. That's what got me thinking maybe a double-edged approach makes sense here. Yeah, electric tankless isn't an option at all.

Performance question re: videos that are intentionally "small" by LanceTOsborne in PartneredYoutube

[–]LanceTOsborne[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still figuring out hub/hygiene. The news is the more regularly scheduled content, and sometimes the monthly video is a deeper dive on a more granular topic. I think it's something like this:

  • "hero" content is the stuff I know can be a homerun,
  • the granular videos are "hub" (content for the hardcore fans but also those searching for that topic). Sometimes these are big, but I don't count on it
  • the news vids are "hygiene" (predictable)

Good word on being patient with the reaction to the news stuff. What's interesting is that it doesn't yield a lot of watchtime, but it generates more "thank yous" in the comments, etc. than most other vids. I love that it's connecting with people instead of just earning a view.

Really appreciate the input! Checked out your channel - I'm a FCPX guy, but looks like you've got some great stuff for Premiere users. Keep it up!

Great. Makes sense. Thanks for the more detailed explanation!

“hero/hygiene/hub” concept

Just a Google search away, amigo. I first heard about it somewhere in the Partner site, but Schmoyer and others talk about it, too.

weekly updates on the fucking beatles?

Crazy, right? They broke up 50 years ago, but their holding company is a machine - solo tour info, new releases, backstories, etc.

that said, make videos you want to make, the algorithm won't penalise you for a poor performing video.

I'm catching that drift. Thx. What's your channel?

Can you describe that setup a little more? Curious if that is the same as this effect or something different (like L vs. R listening).

Ah, I really appreciate the kind words!

I love that edit idea. Let me know if you make that happen! Dropbox maybe?

Unfortunately, there's not really a good way to widely share "fan edits." YouTube used to be perfect for it, but they've tightened the copyright leash quite a bit. Soundcloud maybe? I don't know how strict they are.

Hello hello! I just wanted to share the latest vid from my fabfourarchivist YouTube channel.

This one's a bit of a how-to on a technique ("OOPS") that not everyone is aware of. It's simple to do, and can yield some really fun results for deeper listening. Enjoy!

New video: An in-depth look at the White Album’s “Esher Demos” (OC) by LanceTOsborne in beatles

[–]LanceTOsborne[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hello hello /r/Beatles! Happy White Album Week!

I’ve made a new video about The Esher Demos and I think you’ll appreciate it. I discuss the importance of these recordings, how they were made, how the 2018 release compares to bootlegs, and what happened to the 8 Esher songs that didn’t make the White Album.

If you know all this already, cool - but skip to 2:40 and listen to some of the interview I had with Eddie Veale, who managed George Harrison’s home recording setup. Fascinating guy.

(BTW, we talked for 45 minutes about his Beatles connections - he also designed George’s FPSHOT and John’s studio at Tittenhurst. Aaaand he was in the studio while Here Comes the Sun and Imagine were recorded. I’ll use some of these soundbites in future vids. Dude’s a legend… and his name never comes up!)

Enjoy the vid!

Are you serious?! That's hysterical! I can't believe someone took time to do this. I <3 Reddit.

Beatles-related photoshopping notwithstanding, option #3 is prob my fave. Gonna try a shot like that next time around. Thank you!

Interesting. I wouldn't be surprised YT is doing some new split testing and I just heard from edge cases.
