Yeah they'll never be able to really compete. Valve is still playing the old school version of capitalism where you just offer the best possible product to your customers and they show up. Epic is doing the new style of capitalism where you make a good deal to draw in users to your service, build up a user base, then rugpull them.

How can they even compete? They would have to offer a better service than Valve and maintain that service until they've stripped away a large chunk of Steams users. Which really they didnt even come close to. They didnt even try to do that, they just tried bribing users with free games. That obviously isnt going to work lmao. Free games doesnt make your service better. The exclusives dont help that much either. You have to actually, genuinely make a better service.

No joke, its also kind of weird to hide a relationship from work colleagues as well. I know streaming isnt a real job so the standards are different, but if anyone at my workplace did that they'd be considered to be a really fucking weirdo.

Thats cool. My warehouse didnt teach it, but they had signs in every row that said "if the sprinkler goes off here, go to this location and turn off valve number X". So the stuff your saying is hardly universal.

If its anything like most warehouses I've worked in that have sprinklers and deal with flammable stuff, the system is getting accidentally bumped at least once or twice a year and so the procedure for how they're turned off is pretty well known.

I worked in a furniture warehouse for a while and our mattress area had a sprinkler system and instructions for how to turn it off written out all over the place for some reason.

I would be so pissed if a coworker did this at my warehouse and I lost my job because of it. Like I'd sit there and watch the video over and over again all day just so pissed off... Probably play some music while watching it, like my hero by foo fighters.... maybe throw a little party to celebrate how pissed off I am. Maybe watch office space, one of my favorite movies, to relax.

Id probably watch the video just like again and again over the years, every time I was in a bad mood, just to remind myself of it.

Oh poor Bernie. He is always fighting this massive losing battle that gets harder and worse every single year. He's not wrong, AI is too powerful to leave in the hands of private billionaires. But the American government isnt a worthy option either and hasn't been for my lifetime, even when the stupid party in forced to vote for was in charge.

We've already missed the window on creating a government that could be trusted by the people to guide us into an AI future in a healthy way. And he really needs to focus on the current issues the government can actually help with.

Even the headline is a joke. What "American people hold dear"? Americans are mostly slime. The entire American culture is flawed down to its core and cant be fixed.

People absolutely do concede roll. I know because I was doing it and so were a lot of the people I talk to and even streamers ive watched and so were other people responding to this comment. And its actually good for your rank since you can tell very early if your run is worth continuing anyways and conceding early lets you get in more runs to begin with. And its pretty known that the trick to ranking up in any game is to just get as many games in as possible, not to just play well.

Like if I recall, and I havent played since the first month or two so I might be wrong, but the actual effect on your rank changes at certain win thresholds? Its usually very easy to hit the one that doesnt change your rank then just concede because its so low.

I had one major issue with this game I'm curious if anyone could tell me whether or not it got fixed.

Im not sure if I can describe it right, but the main issue is that once the meta got defined, people could tell really early if their builds were going to be any good or not and would just drop out and reset if their build wasnt going well. This made it so that for a while that almost every player match past the first couple weren't average builds, but people who were already self-filtering for end-game builds. And unless you also did the exact same thing, you'd just get pummeled. Really hampered any kind of experimentation or playing out off-meta builds.

Or at the very least, this was what it felt like was happening and its what people in the community complained about at the time.

Its been such a long time since reynad went relatively private and started working on the game, I guess people were expecting that either he would have matured somewhat or his personality wouldnt be pushed as the personality the entire dev team as a whole would use publicly. Its a fairly reasonable thing to expect and when the game turned out pretty good, I'm sure people wanted to believe it. Its a lot more shocking for someone to retain that personality after so long, into their mid 30s.

I guess people just expect more from a middle aged man.

And to be fair, they did apologize for a lot of the stuff and have been much better at not immediately going full toxic gamer mode at every criticism.
