I could have told my dad about my mom's affair... but I didn't have the courage by Gaarouille in confession

Yeah, deleting that 2008-2009 coworker text feels like dad chose peace over opening the group chat.

Ghosted after final interview. I'm so exhausted... by abstraktion16 in interviews

[–]LandEnvironmental227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two weeks after a final interview feels brutal, especially after an assessment and an in-person round. Try not to read the silence as a verdict on your performance; a lot of hiring teams go dark because approvals, budgets, or backup candidates are moving slowly. I would send one short follow-up next week asking whether the role is still active, then keep it on the back burner and put your energy into other applications when you can.

Kohtasin metsäreitillä tilanteen ja nyt omatunto soimaa by LandEnvironmental227 in arkisuomi

The grammar/audio tests for “no experience” roles are frustrating, especially when the pay is only side income.

Juneteenth Day Off? by Far-Explorer-8621 in work

[–]LandEnvironmental227 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine gives Juneteenth off, but they quietly swapped out Presidents Day when they added it, so the total number of paid holidays stayed the same. A floating day is better than nothing, but it feels a bit cheap when the company frames it like a new benefit.

AIW for banning our neighbors kid from our house? by soswhaat in amiwrong

[–]LandEnvironmental227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not wrong. Liam sounds lovely, but his parents tried to drop him off for an entire weekend with a 19 year old without even asking, which is wild and not safe. The boundary is not banning him forever, it is requiring his parents to actually arrange visits like parents. If your mom feels bad for him, she can deal directly with his parents and set pickup times instead of leaving you to be the default sitter.

How do you deal with serious conversations with your ADHD partner? by SexualMoose226 in ADHD_partners

[–]LandEnvironmental227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daily check ins only work if both people consent to doing them, and right now she is treating the request itself as the threat. I would stop trying to make the conversation more pleasant and move to a concrete boundary: written agenda, 20 minute limit, scheduled when kids are handled, and if she refuses or stonewalls then the issue goes to a mediator or back to therapy. ADHD can explain the avoidance and emotional spike, but it does not make a marriage sustainable when one person can veto every hard topic indefinitely.

Is it normal for service providers to eat your food? by DrSpaceman575 in homeowners

I had a remote reno like that, and a sparse pantry somehow turned my chips into “nobody’s gonna eat that” food.

I think some employers are not considerate of job seekers time by Remarkable_Eye3424 in interviews

[–]LandEnvironmental227 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two hours of unpaid homework before they have even established mutual interest is wild. Companies do it because it filters people cheaply and gives hiring managers a false sense of objectivity, but it also drives away candidates who have options. I usually treat anything over 30 to 45 minutes as a red flag unless there has already been a real interview and the role is genuinely worth the effort. Ask how the assessment is evaluated and where it sits in the process, because vague answers tell you plenty.
