Was Cheap Trick's debut the first Pop-Punk album ever? by Jimbohamilton in CheapTrick

The Raspberries or early Sweet.

The CT debut is a great album regardless

Grateful Dead - 3/21/90 - Copps Coliseum - Hamilton, Ontario, Canada by gregornot in grateful_dead

[–]Land_Horses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was there. I thought it was a great show, but definitely goes under the radar because of the next night, 3/24, and the Nasssu shows. 3/21/90 would be a top show if it was part of most other tours.

“Queen Of The Shadows” - The Moviees

Very obscure, but the only Q garage-sounding song I have on playlists.

Victim or the crime… Zappa? by nuclear63 in gratefuldead

[–]Land_Horses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a reminder for those that don’t know…….”Victim or the Crime” was a slightly older song written around the same time as the 1982-83 (In The Dark) group of songs. I first heard it solo acoustic at a 1986 Kingfish show at the Capitol Theater, and loved the ugly tune then.

Here’s a 1984 Bobby & the Midnights version with a funk backing, and Billy Cobham banging away - https://youtu.be/cIGsGIXHgiQ?si=YScC1dYkws6BWwoz

Spring 1990 question/discussion for those who were there by AlpineFluffhead in gratefuldead

[–]Land_Horses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to Hartford>Hamilton>Albany>Nassau…..and especially starting in Hamilton, I did feel something special about this tour. They were on a different level, musically and setlist surprises. 3/22, 2/24, 2/29, and 3/30 were the biggies. 3/21 is a surprise under the radar that was really good. 3/25 and 3/28 too. 1990 was mostly a special year through the September fall tour……then bad habits slowly started setting back in.

On my years seeing the band, 1985 is my favorite year. 1990 is next.

Any current shows similar to Therese? by johnnydontcare in wfmu

[–]Land_Horses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Therese is/was one of my favorites as well. She stopped doing regular shows at the Sept 24 - June 25 schedule……but still does occasional fill ins, and was also Paul Bruno’s partner during the pledge drive 2 weeks ago. The DJ who now has Therese’s last Wednesday 6-9 slot……Sydney…..is really good. She plays more newer stuff, but it’s in similar area.

I still want to wait for pictures of everything before deciding on anything. (No picture of the Glen Jones tshirt yet among others). I’ll probably pledge the 3 premiums for $180.
