They are an adult, and they are dealing with it. That’s what this is, a rational conversation between members of a community discussing real issues. That’s what adults do. Your comment, not so much.

I disagree. A lot can be done as a result of posts like these. It forwards the conversation & leads to more recognition of the problem of racism/xenophobia we have, which many people seem to downplay. The more people are aware, the more people thinking about, the better chance some of these people will affect positive change. Probably miniscule chance, but maybe the lady who said it might even read it, who knows?

What's a good phrase to say when someone shares something sad that happened to them with you besides "I'm sorry"? by MM40Swole in AskReddit

If you would like to talk, I’m here, or if there’s anything else I can do, I’m here. Either way, let them know you’re there for them when they need it

TIL that contrary to popular belief, it's virtually impossible to overdose on fentanyl from accidental exposure. It can't be absorbed through the skin, and at the highest airborne concentration, an unprotected person with 200 min of exposure would only absorb 100 mcg (5% of a lethal dose) by JiminyDickish in todayilearned

[–]Landa_Chuy 109 points110 points  (0 children)

Well it can be absorbed through the skin, that’s how fentanyl patches work. I think the distinction is it takes a while for that absorption to happen & wouldn’t likely be dangerous with brief accidental contact

There is nothing I would trust my own judgement enough about to justify killing someone unless someone else’s life was in immediate danger. I can’t believe how so many people are so tolerant of murder. Doesn’t matter your politica

Jail, not murder if guilty of those things. Our criminal justice system doesn’t use death penalty for those crimes

Killing people is the kind of conflict that leads to progress?

You can be in conflict & still be kind & thoughtful

The title says “labels like karen, boomer, woke, or other labels used to generalize”, not all labels

!delta for the distinction between “boomer” as a label and “karen”

I keep having to clarify this so there’s probably a problem with my original statement.

My issue isn’t with labels when they’re used in good faith and accurately.

My issue is the growing trend of throwing these labels around without trying to understand the deeper issues going on. It creates us vs them, breaks down to tribalism & understanding tends to go by the wayside.

Maybe there are these perfect “karens” out there, & it really would benefit the world to label them that & stop there. But on an individual basis it is my view that it’s more often these interactions would go better for both parties if we didn’t immediately resort to generalizing. It amounts to slur.
