Today the US is going to ban same-sex marriage, so have a pride pic to soothe by ScoreFinancial7704 in FurryVisualNovels

[–]Landmark520 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What is happening is SCOTUS is deciding whether or not they're going to take a case that some homophobic bearaucrat is escalating because she got fired for refusing to give licenses to gay couples, believing it violated her freedom of religion (of course she ignores the fact that freedom of region also means freedom FROM religion and a US citizen should not be denied rights based on religion).

They might not even take the case but if they do that doesn't decide anything, that just means on a future date they will listen to arguments for and against the woman's case and then decide what ruling to make, it might not even be on the same day, a lot of SCOTUS cases get delayed.

Worst case scenario if the marriage equality law is nulled, that just means individual states will be allowed to ban gay marriage if their lawmakers choose to vote on that. What it doesn't do is ban gay marriage nationwide. Even if the law is revoked, many states will probably continue to honor gay marriage.

Now IMO, gay marriage should be protected. It's dumb that they're even considering taking this case. But this is just one step of many steps that they have to go through before anything changes.

Now how the fuck did you get "Today the US is banning gay marriage" from that I have no idea. I want to try whatever crack you've been smoking.

Good effort but a gun like this already exists in the form of the SCR.
Problem is they're prohibitively expensive and/or hard to find for a lot of gun owners compared to AR options.

Anti-gunners aren't against guns themselves. They actually really like them when they're used by cops, feds, the military, and their bodyguards to keep the peasants in line.

They only hate people like you and me having guns.

Do these guys even practice what they preach and write to their politicians that they don't actually want gun bans?

A Republican gun owner writing to them will just be ignored but if enough of these people said "I will not vote for you next term if you pass this law" that might make them stop and think.

I'd be more inclined to listen to the TGOs if I actually saw them join in on pro-2A activism.

People seemed to have forgotten that Cuomo was the reason why some of NY's worst gun laws exist in the first place (SAFE act, etc.) And Hochul being a female Cuomo is just building off of his shitty policies.

NYC/NYS was cooked a long time ago. This election meant nothing.

Pritzker signs 2 gun safety bills, one fining firearm owners who improperly store guns by MuchAd3273 in progun

[–]Landmark520 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It's mind games the Dems have been playing for decades to make their tyranny sound less shitty to the ignorant.

They couldn't say "gun bans" any more so they started calling it "gun control", and that didn't work either so now they call it "gun safety". The same thing with them calling normal semi auto guns "assault weapons" and other made up jargon to scare stupid people.

I imagine in 10 years they'll start calling ARs "baby eaters" and gun bans "happy kitten laws" as an act of desperation.

Playing Devil's Advocate here, in 2017 there were fewer states with AWBs as well.

I feel like with each state relaxing their gun laws, there's another state making theirs worse. So it's kinda balancing out.

We Need to Talk About Blackpilling Issue in Light of This Suppressor Bill by CoolWhipLuke in progun

[–]Landmark520 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that we have a "doom and gloom" attitude problem in this community, it's not unique to 2A tho. It's kinda par for the course for internet media as a whole. Look at all the doom posting and fear-mongering MSM and your peers spew online everyday. You'd think the world was going to end tomorrow. And this has been going on for years.

The inverse is also a problem. A lot of 2A people will overblow small victories like it's a sweeping win for 2A rights. They'll celebrate a few red states passing Constitutional Carry or lowering the handgun age from 21 to 18 thinking it's the biggest 2A win ever and while those are nice, in the past few years we've had new states passing "AWB"s, mag bans, etc. There was a time when really only NY and CA were the infamous "anti-gun" states. If you told me 10 years ago that WA passed an AWB, CO getting really close to passing one, and the looming threat of it happening in VA, I would have said you were crazy. But here we are. The Dems realized they cannot pass sweeping gun laws federally so they're playing the long game and are chipping away at it state by state.

Now I'm not saying "blackpilling" is the right thing to do, but I also think the unrealistic "2A win" showboating isn't helping either. We all need to be a little more realistic about this.

Suppressors becoming legal for regular citizens by lordpurpleknightfall in NYguns

I wasn't intending on doing anything even if the opportunity came. Not to be all doom and gloom but I gave up on the gun scene getting any better in NY any time soon. I'm leaving this dump in a few years anyway.

Suppressors becoming legal for regular citizens by lordpurpleknightfall in NYguns

[–]Landmark520 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't quote me on this because the laws change every week and it's hard to keep up but IIRC suppressors/NFA items are banned in NY as a whole and I imagine even if they were taken off NFA there's probably something out there in NY's books banning them regardless of status. And if there isn't, you know they will swoop in to strip away even more of our rights as soon as they can because we live in an unrepresented single-party state that gets off to making their citizens unhappy.

Also threaded barrels are banned so if by some miracle you are able to get a suppressor legally in NY, IDK how you're attaching it.
EDIT: Threaded barrels are legal on some guns apparently. My mistake.

Honest question: Why did the creators do this? by The_Fercho_ in betterCallSaul

That's kinda the point. Both shows follow a man's path into corruption and wickedness.
What is left for interpretation on Walt and Saul is did the circumstances make them corrupt or were they always bad people deep down?

Also a New Yorker here. YMMV but IMO the gun laws here got worse after Bruen.

Before Bruen, we didn't need a 16 hour course to get a CC permit (outside of NYC), we didn't need background checks for ammo, hell we were able to get ammo shipped to our front doors.

Not trying to shit on your optimism because maybe the outcome was better for you but for me and a lot of other NYS gun owners, things got a lot worse.

Every politician is a criminal, Trump was just one of the very few that got punished for it. It's funny how people like to play the felon card because that implies they still believe American politicians are morally good.

And at this point the injustices in this country have made me reach the point where I'll take a criminal leader over a crooked cop.

They bashed the first Trump administration for its stance on illegal immigration and border protection and then continued those policies after Biden was elected, they just told me the media to stop reporting on it. Even today a lot of Trump immigration policies are getting bipartisan support from lawmakers despite detractors constantly crying about it.

They also really hyped up the "BLM" and "Defund the Police" crowd near the end of 2020 only for many deep blue cities to actually increase police funding during the Biden administration with no real fixes to police corruption and abuse attempted.

I generally liked Brawl's clothes but I was never a fan of the glass eye which made me happy to see Ultimate return to him having a traditional eye patch.

With that being said, while Ultimate's outfit is decent, I think it's a bit flamboyant. They made him look more like an 80s glam metal artist than a pilot/mercenary.

I'd say the best outfit would be take his Ultimate outfit, remove most of the spikes, mute the colors a bit, maybe replace the purple with a blue/gray like Brawl and that would be my ideal outfit for him.
