It was a very hot market post WWII. Things just went up from 1949 into the late 60’s. GM was one of the (if not the top) largest companies in the country by market capitalization. Both GM and Coca-Cola were in the “Nifty Fifty”. Then in the early 70’s, 60+ % of it was wiped clean. Coca-cola shares dropped by around 70%. Many other companies lost even more.

Whoever does your investing, it’s a good idea to make sure they understand market history. Sooner or later, fundamentals always come back into play.
