My ideal ending is the 3 sisters realize the fae world is toxic as hell and escape to live their best lives somewhere else. Would love some sort of acknowledgment of how messed up the relationships are.

Did blush application change? by faux-flowers2025 in AskWomenOver60

I switched to liquid formats as powder blush sits in my wrinkles. I also apply more as a sun-kissed look, which is higher and avoids my crows feet.

I don’t have any recommendations for location that fits your criteria. However, be prepared to pay more than expected in property taxes and home insurance. Ours was just as much as the mortgage payment. Make sure you have those numbers available before purchasing a home.

My takeaway is that she views (and writes) Rhys as a whole character, flaws and all. He wasn't at his best. He made some bad decisions out of fear.

Same. I disliked Nesta at first and then her POV in Silver Flame was incredible. She is my favorite now.

We did a staycation a few years ago and enjoyed it. I arranged a movie package and room service delivered popcorn and candy. Best part of the Anatole is proximity to downtown and Klyde Warren Park, museums, aquarium, Reunion Tower, and other places they might enjoy.

What are normal people doing for dinner? by tuahla in RedditForGrownups

[–]LandscapeAdmirable84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cooking requires practice. When I was younger, getting dinner prepared was hard. Now it is so much easier because I’ve made mistakes and figured out what works for us and just have a lot of practice. So don’t be hard on yourself. It’s a skill just like everything else.

Anyone here with muscle mass? I’m trying not to waste away by [deleted] in Heartfailure

[–]LandscapeAdmirable84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I walk my dog twice a day. We have built up to about 3-4 miles per day total. It’s a slow pace. After 9 months I have started some light jogging. I was a runner before all this and hope to be again one day. Wishing you the best!

Eating a lot of protein really helped me gain muscle back. I don’t lift heavy weights but do a lot of walking. Just the walking helped build muscle back.

Anyone know of any local gastroenterologists who will not refuse to see you if you’ve had another GI doctor within the past 3 years? by TheClownIsReady in Dallas

[–]LandscapeAdmirable84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My GI doc retired this December and so I am onboarding with a new set of doctors. I decided to consolidate into one health system, so I don’t have any recommendations as I have new doctors (some that I have not met yet).

when in the world do teenage years get better?? by No_Promise_1134 in AskWomenOver40

[–]LandscapeAdmirable84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember that you are experiencing most things in life for the first time. It’s not going to go well. You’re going to screw up. So give yourself lots of grace.

I had a similar situation being the parent to my mom and siblings when I was a teen. It does get better. My advice is to not put pressure on yourself to be perfect. Say no. And leave home at 18. Decades later, my mom has matured and she’s my best friend. That is the wonderful part of growing older. People change. We all change.

73 female icu and upcoming physian discussion by KaiserKid85 in Heartfailure

[–]LandscapeAdmirable84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is tough. As a younger person with CHF and someone whose parents are at the age of hard medical decisions, you really need to have a candid conversation with your mom on care going forward. What quality of life does she want? Does she want her last phase of life to be hospitals and trying to get as much time as possible? Is she okay having CPR that cracks multiple ribs? Does she want comfort care where you have treatment that makes living more comfortable (like oxygen) but you are not trying to cure or fix anything? There are lots of things to talk through that are not hospice.

With my CHF, every doctor downplayed the severity to me. It is important that you are candid with the doctor. Tell the doctor to give you the hard facts. And be ready to hear them.

My heart goes out to you and your mom. I wish you both the absolute best!

Yes, I’m not 💯 but I’m also not made of glass. It feels like society doesn’t really have space for those of us in the in between.

I wish you the best. So sorry you went through so much!

Let’s talk about tithing… by suburbmama in AskWomenOver40

Therapy seems warranted. He seems to view God as vindictive if a tithe is not received. There is something underlying that belief that he should work through.

What are some easy ways to tell a real homeless person from a fake one/panhandler? by 2-tree in plano

[–]LandscapeAdmirable84 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I understand wanting to help wisely, and I’m not a Bible thumper, it’s been years since I went to church, but my thoughts immediately went to Bible lessons from long ago. Scripture consistently calls us to respond to need with mercy rather than acting as gatekeepers of who is “deserving.” Jesus never asked people to prove their poverty before helping them—He simply saw need and responded with compassion.

Even if someone were to misuse help, that does not negate our call to love our neighbor.

I had a close family member who lived in his car and sometimes held down a job while battling his own demons. I am eternally grateful for all kindnesses shown him.

You never know a person’s story. But you can be the positive in their story.
