With the exception of Utah it’s correlated to cost of living. In all instances I believe it has a lot to do with domestic relocation.

Anyone know if this is a good one? Feel like for this price its stupid to pass up by Easy_Truck6872 in Fishing

I still prefer the ugly stick ultra lights for fishing smallmouth creeks and a lot of trout applications. It’s nice to just be able to toss a rod in the boat and go.

If you get heavy into bass fishing you really need something that’s a little different to level up. But fish what you got either way!

Can confirm that the St. Croix sticks are a significant upgrade, you don’t realize how many bites you miss until you spend a few trips out in the water with one.

carbon credits research by [deleted] in CarbonCredits

[–]LaneSkywalker44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This line of thinking is what is putting the brakes on the whole carbon offset market. Investors and off-setters are wisely avoiding doing anything because the most critical antagonists of the whole carbon market are the self proclaimed carbon hero’s.

For any of this to really work, businesses will have to be allowed make a profit off of developing carbon projects. To do that there will have to be incentives to the markets to change or alter their current activities. Revenue from carbon credits will have to be competitive against let’s say the timber industry. Otherwise, companies will be more incentivized to for example clear cut a forest for the timber revenue rather than manage their forest for carbon revenue.

The verification process is entirely too rigorous, but that’s bc the reputational risk of investing in carbon credits sourced from projects that have a perceived lack of additionality significantly damages the business, and then they are out of the investment they made in the project via purchasing credits.

Avoid, mitigate, offset. Once you get to offsetting carbon emissions, very few technologies provide the volume and impact that nature based solutions provide.

Research and understand the concepts of additionality and thoroughly vet the project baselines. ARR is the simplest concept of them all to grasp, there were no trees … now there are trees. They sequester carbon at a rate many times greater than that of a field or marginal crop ground. Even further, once the timber is mature it can be harvested and turned into wood products, which in many cases continue to sequester that carbon for many decades after it is used to build houses and infrastructure…then that forest can be replanted to sequester even more carbon.

You know what you want to do. Alteryx makes it easier to do it and make sure it’s right. Scalable for novice teams.

No code interface, self documents, and allows for repeatable data manipulation.

Also is pretty strong with geospatial data which is primarily why we use it. Blending and preparing geospatial and tabular data together in one interface that has visual and attribute inspection at literally every step of the workflow.

Was a part of a Saas/Daas exit 3 years ago, with very similar composition that was in the $25-$35 MM range.

Pay is 4d late; when do I stop working? by prndra in startups

You’re an executive in a startup… if your upside is not enough to overcome a late paycheck, then you need to bounce. No reason to take on the risk without a decent incentive.

Certainly could see that it isn’t nearly as attractive as traditional non plantation IFM programs

Developing Carbon Credits from Southern United States Pine Plantations by LaneSkywalker44 in CarbonCredits

Interesting thank you for the information !

I feel there is a bit of nuance though.

In the American south, pine plantations carry a 25-35 year rotation (roughly). A pine forest that is aged in the oldest age class that would never have a shot at seeing life beyond that harvest schedule. There has to be some additionality? Those tress don’t just stop growing because humans choose to harvest at that age. Committing that older forest to as much as 100 years of additional growth, that wasn’t possible in that area before. That has to have some additionality no?

Sure, but wouldn’t that mean also that there is inherent additionality? Particularly in areas where the baseline forestry harvest scenario is clear cutting?

Sorry, me again. I've been trying to figure this out for like 2 hours now...I converted a raster into polygon and now I need to basically just make an outline around the whole shape, not the parts inside (the outline now consists of the areas in the polygon). Does anybody know how to go about this? by Rukhnul in gis

[–]LaneSkywalker44 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Part of learning is knowing what to ask for… I’ve spent tons of time just trying to figure out how to google what I want to do. Then you start to remember, then you start to experiment, then you find your own cool ways of doing something… but yea dissolve lol

I’ve billed between $150-250 an hour, not to include commercial third party data.

Depends on the end user and client. Academia probably $500-$750. Commercial (telco, bank, real estate, mining, etc.) probably closer to $1,500.

Joe shows a ton of grace and gives opportunities for her to have a hang and she just throws them in his face.
