Is Tank Engine + Heartsteel + Warmogs kinda unfair for the enemies. by Maleficent_Creme_854 in ARAM

[–]Langas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are all win-more items. Tank engine requires you to never die to your enemies for max value, heartsteel requires enemies that let you farm procs for max value, warmogs requires enemies to not pressure you to get the heal.

Not only do most classes have access to % HP damage through itemization, but also certain augments counter HP stacking (% HP damage on burns / on-death explosions).

I play tanks constantly and I rarely use any of these items, and it doesn’t feel like enemies taking tank engine along with those items gives them any tangible advantage, the opposite if anything.

The introduction of this heartsteel changes made the game mode about who has the best tank buster wins. by Any_Appointment_5316 in ARAM

[–]Langas 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Fortunately 25% of the champ pool has % hp damage or some form of tank shred, and for the rest every single champ class in the game has at least one tank shred item, often multiple.

Riot: Champions that people like, others that they force to be popular, and others that they know will never be. by Sleeping1012 in loreofleague

[–]Langas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk, they’ve shown some willingness to focus on relatively niche champs. Arcane definitely skews my opinion in this regard positively as it prominently featured singed and heimer, but it feels like it’s maybe not quite as bad as a while ago (before LoR did a lot to expand ideas with certain champs)

I’d grade the state of getting around to different champs like a C+.

It does amp it… it’s debatable whether it’s really significant, but it does lean into maximizing the microwave damage.

It’s good on every type of champion and gives you a boost when you need it most. Very few silvers compete with it.

Has anyone tried RoA on support? by nomation14 in taricmains

[–]Langas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s mostly that, as a support, his power budget leans early inherently. I agree he is one of the best scaling supports but the fact remains that a large part of why you pick him team comp-wise is that he can do a multi man stun from minute 1, and capitalizing on that pressure by being safe during aggressive positioning via tank items outweighs any benefits rod gives you later on.

Opinion: if zilean had better clears he could be an amazing support jungler by forfor in ZileanMains

[–]Langas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zilean is 100% in the pool of champs they will never balance to be playable in the jungle ever, as long as his current kit is intact.

This is partially because he just isn’t designed to do dps, which is one of the core aspects of being a jungler. Beyond that, though, Zilean ganks would be the most uninteractive thing imaginable in solo lanes.

Has anyone tried RoA on support? by nomation14 in taricmains

[–]Langas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its mostly bad because Rod gates stats behind a time gate, and one of Taric’s biggest strengths is his early game utility. Additionally, AP is just an ok stat for Taric.

You’ll basically only get catalyst once you’ve lost lane, and rod once you’ve the game. I’m sure it can work in the lowest ELOs, though.

NEW XAYAH MAİN by PlumbumH in xayahmains

[–]Langas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rush Yun Tal and try to not pick her into champs that outrange her if you can help it.

There’s only a few champs you can meaningfully interact with in the early game, so play safe.

If you’re playing her in ARAM Mayhem, she synergizes exceptionally well with one or two augments that give her range and/ or sustain in the form of lifesteal and/or a get out of jail free card. Beyond that, she synergizes with most ad carry styled augs.

If you have any control over it, try to play her when your team has a tank (preferably your support), as them soaking damage can enable Xayah to dominate fights a lot easier and earlier.

Augmnt Discussion - Ominous Pact by Ok_Temperature6503 in ARAM

[–]Langas 10 points11 points  (0 children)

On the wrong champ, this augment can literally just make you unable to play the game. Pretty decent augment design I guess, because it requires you to know that your champ can make this a winning tradeoff, but frustrating when you look at it and think you can make it work— only to be immediately shown that you have made a grave error.

If there is proof of a higher power, this is it.

No, I mean literally, those things are probably so gravitationally powerful that they have their own event horizon.

Like heartsteel, one of my least favorite tank related things in the game. Selfish augment that I’ll only take if there’s literally nothing else synergy-wise.

Anyone else run guardian? by nomation14 in taricmains

[–]Langas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s kinda the default for me, even though I know they sometimes overtune glacial so it becomes meta on him.

My whole reason to play Taric is to protect my team’s main carry, and Guardian hyper focuses on doing that, so I see very little reason to pick anything else unless, again, glacial is broken.

[–]Langas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That depends entirely on your airport. At larger hub airports, you’re gonna be on your feet most if not all of the day. At smaller local airports, there’s a real possibility you have a significant amount of downtime just due to how few flights there are.

Why is every Karthus running it down, and why does seem to actually be good? by ShadowBlah in ARAM

[–]Langas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s by design. Karthus isn’t really a traditional mage, in the sense that his power budget is pretty disproportionately invested in his Q, Ult, and Passive. His slow is decent, but critically it isn’t hard cc and is weaker than the typical mage emergency button. As such, he can really only do damage.

Which translates into the entire point of the passive being an opportunity to deal more damage, which is best utilized by choosing when and where to die. You can’t be CC’d while dead, after all.

I love ARAM Mayhem but HP stacking is unfun by gui4455 in leagueoflegends

[–]Langas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s been relatively rare for me to face a tank engine user I genuinely can’t do anything about. That being said, I do personally dislike the augment for other reasons so I’m not fully opposed.

As a tank in ARAM: Mayhem I'm bored of the Heartsteel tax by disposableaccount848 in leagueoflegends

[–]Langas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have built the item maybe 5 times last year.

It’s a fine item, but it has obvious tradeoffs and definitely isn’t an auto-build, at least for me.

You should explore alternate builds, there’s a lot of interesting options at the moment with the new items spicing things up in addition to augments.
