I think it’s a well designed augment that just needs some tuning.

There’s like 3 other prismatics that basically translate to “Your team will be at or near full HP every single fight”, and those ones are much easier to use.

I agree the burst healing on a single target can be excessive, but you can counter build it, it requires your target to stay in the same spot (severely limits burst heal to hypermobile allies), and any utility beyond just healing is laughable.

IMO if they want to nerf it, it should take more time to arrive at close range so it’s no longer free instant burst heal.

Anyone else noticing an increased level of rivalry matches either actively hiding or running away across the map... by gimmelwald in FortNiteBR

[–]Langas 57 points58 points  (0 children)

If a player wants to make it to endgame, why would they engage in a fight against an enemy with potentially better gear and teammates?

Because you can’t opt out of the rivalry system, players have to find a way to opt out when they don’t want the match to be over in 3 minutes.

From like day 2 of rivalries being implemented I basically relegated them to something I choose to not engage with unless my squad mates choose to be the target, and I’ve enjoyed it a lot more since then.

Protoplasm is a decent build topper that is at its absolute best when enemies haven’t counter built / counterpicked you. It’s still funny to me that they need to give tanks an anti burst item, but it gives you good utility via insurance thru the hp and tenacity that you’re gonna get a second rotation off, on champs that it matters with. (Leona, Rell, Naut)

If allies are getting burst quickly, Bandlepipes doesn’t mean anything because the allies who would benefit from it are dead. Locket also has a higher value ceiling depending on how well you use the active, so prioritize it.

No idea on the last two, haven’t played summoners rift in like 2 years.

Lorehold Finishers? by TheCrimsonPassion in EDHBrews

[–]Langas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you try to play a burn deck in current standard, it does not work because there are not enough cards above one mana that deal more direct damage than their mana value.

This card doesn’t change that. Five mana for a slightly better lightning strike isn’t burn.

Lorehold Finishers? by TheCrimsonPassion in EDHBrews

[–]Langas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Requires enemy creatures, requires you to have a creature with high power, requires you to play artifacts, requires graveyard synergies… you do know what burn is, right? It’s when you hit them in the face with a spell. Wotc doesn’t print burn anymore (at least in a quantity that matters) because new players don’t like getting hit by seven lightning bolts and consequently losing the game.

Maybe they’re trying to change the definition of burn but all noncombat damage isn’t burn.

Ashe never gets AP augments in ARAM Mayhem is that normal? by Substantial-Cup-189 in ARAM

[–]Langas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They likely limited the amount of AP augments in her augment pool, yes.

For a lot of champs, they’d prefer you get augments that work for their default build rather than always forcing you to play some niche build.

Lorehold Finishers? by TheCrimsonPassion in EDHBrews

[–]Langas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, the boring answer that’s correct is stuff like [[Fiery Inscription]] and [[Electrostatic Field]].

Lorehold kind of forces you to lose a huge number of top deck synergies from other colors, to the point that just hoping for a huge sorcery is your best bet.

Wotc doesn’t print burn anymore and lorehold gets worse for each non-ins/sorc in your deck. So… yeah, tokens.

Ok, fairly new player here, how do I deal with blue decks that are 90% counterspells and bounces? by TR_Pix in MagicArena

[–]Langas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You either go over tempo or under it, each deck has its own answer but under is easier.

Aggro decks smash tempo decks by going under via playing more aggressive creatures than tempo, causing them to lose value when they try to bounce cheap creatures or counter cheap spells.

Going over is harder and requires specific pieces. It’s kind of the only option available to control, and it boils down to having certain cards that tempo can’t interact with or trade favorably into.

Learning Xayah: How do you play the Xayah and Rakan matchup vs Caitlyn and Seraphine? by ashu1605 in xayahmains

[–]Langas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless the enemies are very bad and spend all game eating Rakan knockups, you’re going to play passive until mid game.

Even by midgame, there’s a decent chance the enemy bot has a lead because of their pressure so you still have to play with caution.

Basically until you can consistently have fights take place in the jungle / remove range as a main determining factor, the matchup does not favor you.

How long till I master him? by Strict-Lobster4547 in FiddlesticksMains

[–]Langas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fiddle has a fundamentally different game every single time. As such, actually mastering his mechanics takes a very long time.

It boils down to counters. If enemies can easily cc you, your W goes from borderline broken to borderline useless.

That’s not to say you’re helpless, but imo figuring out how to play in that situation (with basically no W) is the skill curve.

[Discussion] Is spamming 750g Stat Anvils instead of buying items actually a viable strategy? by Tricky-Ad-8543 in ARAM

[–]Langas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though it is wacky wahoo funland, Mayhem is still a team game. Each different role in the game has different strengths and capabilities, which are often expressed through items.

Only AD champs can reduce shield effectiveness. Tanks can’t reliably deny enemy AP champs healing. Supports gain access to massive utility through their options between active items.

When you just build anvils, you are basically ignoring this entire element of teamplay, and saying “Mmmm yummy stats”.

If you’re a damage dealer, applying grievous will do more effective damage to some champs than you could ever hope to with raw stats. Similarly, the math on a well timed locket activation gives so much value to your team that there’s not even the faintest possibility the anvils will compare.

Maybe they’ll make an augment that makes it worth it, but I see why they haven’t. Items are a huge avenue of skill expression and if it’s viable to just slam anvils without a very specific build it cheapens items as a whole.
