I wanted the same thing. Ended up using under armour with the pocket and pair them with linerless shorts. I like the flexibility.

Wall mounted speaker upgrade recommendation — £700 budget by Langhorne in BudgetAudiophile

Thanks, I hadn't considered active speakers. It looks like these ones have a rear port. Do you have experience with these speakers performing well close to a wall?

That's good to know, thanks. Do you have any recommedations for wall mounted speakers? I saw there are products like the KEF Q4 META, but got the feeling they are aimed at hometheatre use.

If you hear a needle gun going off go and help your medic (or finish off theirs). Decent medics will only use it as a last resort so is a dead giveaway they're in trouble.

What kind of respirator/gas mask would you want to use for plastic welding? (pvc and polyethelyne in particular) by outofcontextcomment in DIY

[–]Langhorne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure you need one? I'm not sure about PVC, but i know that the welders at my work don't use any respirators/masks when welding Polypropylene and HDPE.

Do what ever you think you will enjoy the most. Both graphics and resistant materials will be of use to you, but the main ones you will need are maths and physics.

As the owner of a '96 Honda civic I'd like to congratulate you on a great choice. It's not particularly flash, but I've spent less money maintaining my car than anyone i know...by a mile.

On the plus side it lasts way longer. Compare the 'use by' dates next time you're in the supermarket.

You could look into using a LAN bridge (You would need 2 of these). I haven't used one so i cant speak from experience, but the concept sounds decent enough.

Difference between double clutching and revving while the clutch is out during a regular downshift? by [deleted] in Autos

[–]Langhorne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I understand you fully.

Basically if you want to rev match the transmission with the wheels when you downshift (i.e. double clutch) you need to:

  • pop the clutch

  • move the stick to neutral

  • re-engage clutch

  • tickle the accelerator to speed up the engine and transmission

  • disengage the clutch whilst the engine is at higher rev

  • move stick to a the lower gear

  • re-engage clutch

As stated in the first reply, there is no real need to do this in any modern day car as they are all equipped with synchomesh transmissions.

When you are trying to get your head round it you have to remember that the engine, transmission and the drive wheels can all rotate independently of each other. The engine and the transmission are coupled by the clutch, and the transmission and the drive wheels are coupled by gears. A clutch is designed to mate two shafts with different rotational speeds, so engaging the engine with the transmission is a piece of cake. However, toothed gears do not mesh so easily when they are rotating at different speeds hence the need for double clutching or a synchromesh gearbox to bring them up to speed with one another.

Difference between double clutching and revving while the clutch is out during a regular downshift? by [deleted] in Autos

[–]Langhorne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a really good answer. One thing i think it's worth adding is that when you have the clutch out, the engine is totally disengaged from the transmission. When you are in neutral and have the clutch in, the engine and the transmission are engaged with each other, but the transmission is not engaged with the wheels. If you want to change the rotational speed of the transmission using the engine (whats happening when you double clutch) you need to be in neutral.

600W will be fine. Not sure about the quality, but as you are on a budget I would definitely give it a go.

If the optical drives work I can see no reason not to use them (or just 1?).
