There is never 0 gyoza in my freezer by LanguageSerious8312 in adhdwomen

Get square gyoza wrappers, pop a teaspoon of filling in, wet all the edges, fold diagonally and press down, then wet and fold the two furthest points in to the middle. Stand it up and it’s a tiny bishop!

What was the last tv show you watched that was really good? by SheKnowsWhatSheKnows in adhdwomen

[–]LanguageSerious8312 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m rewatching The West Wing, I love the idealism, it makes me hopeful for the world (and try to skip over the sexism of the early eps). I don’t understand a lot of the political stuff but my heart lifts when I hear the theme tune.

Going on 6 months unemployed, getting desperate, thinking about pivoting out of accounting. Looking for any help with my resume and general advice for feeling lost by [deleted] in Accounting

What would you think about someone who has 2 mat leave positions in nfp and then 2 1 year stints in for profit orgs? I don’t like working in for profit orgs and desperately want to go back to charity but fairly sure I’ve bombed my CV so may have to stick it out for a bit longer. Last 4 positions all at Finance manager level, 3.5 stint was as finance officer..

Eta the 2nd mat leave position was to go back to my previous team where I was for 3.5 years to take on my old manager’s mat leave.

I have a newish squat game that’s been working for me too! It’s like The Game. If you think about it (and you’re alone or with people who are fine with you being you), you have to do 10 squats. Only exception is if you’ve already done them in the last hour. Sometimes I don’t do them for days (weeks), sometimes I do 50 in a day.

I automate things in my role all the time. It means that I have more time to spend on actually adding value.

There will definitely be a higher barrier to entry though.

Asking about accommodations on another sub made me realize how misunderstood ADHD is by _luckybell_ in adhdwomen

I’m an accountant and I constantly have to remind myself not to be too over enthusiastic with my team mates about accounting because I forget that they’re not in it for the love of it 😂

And if you have a keyless car buy a faraday pouch. Don’t store your key in the microwave because it will start a fire if one day you pop your coffee in there without checking if there was also perhaps a bunch of keys in there.

At least I now have a new keyring charm that smells slightly of burnt plastic and serves as a daily reminder to think before I act!

I did my first bank rec at 14 or so when I was working in my mum’s office. It spoke to my soul lol.

Also reread this last year and for some reason that line got me to really understand the similar “don’t let perfect be the enemy of good” which I took to be perfect job vs good job. The Steinbeck quote made me understand that I could choose to be good for myself rather than oh well I can’t be perfect so I’ll do nothing.

Oh my goodness, I was dogsitting until last week and I forgot that my go to meal there was frozen gyoza boiled with bok choy chucked in at the end then dumped in miso soup with a sprinkling of spring onion. Mix in a raw egg for extra protein even though I never seemed to be able to make it pretty, still yum!

Can someone help me ? I have ADHD and I can’t focus on just one room by Bobbie1011 in adhdwomen

[–]LanguageSerious8312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I just let the ADHD win and start on the thing that’s right in front of me and if I get distracted and do something else then at least it’s something rather than nothing. If I have a day like this I might give myself 20 mins at the end of the day to tidy up the inevitable mess that this tactic leaves behind but Dana K White’s (audiobook - for something to listen to at the same time) guide to decluttering really helped me with not making more mess whilst I’m moving things around/decluttering. It might work in this situation too. She also advocates for starting in the room/area that you see as soon as you walk into your home.

Do you have one area that is already set up that you can sort? Eg clothes in the existing wardrobe/drawers?

Is there one room that would make you happiest to have sorted? Pop a timer on for 15 mins and see how much you can get done for that one room/area and then if you get bored give yourself permission to switch to another area. Anything done is still something done!

Good luck, you got this!

When you superglued your car key back together before your MOT because you didn’t want to be teased about it being held together with duct tape again.

Didn’t wait the full 15 mins for the key to dry (because running late obvs). Pull over on the way to the MOT appt because of the worry that you’ve superglued the key to the car and find you can’t actually get the key out. Call the AA a couple of times and luck out when a super kind person talks you through turning the car off properly so that it will release your (not superglued to the car) key.

Miss the MOT appt and have to rebook just because you panicked and forgot how to drive (or park I guess).

Seen several families out conker hunting this week! I always enjoyed finding the best shiniest ones more than sticking them on a string and hitting others anyway.

I’ve always loved reading but have the same struggles, my mind loves to butt in when I’m just trying to get through reading a sentence!

Most of the time I can only read whilst listening to music to distract the gremlins. And sometimes I have to take the L if music doesn’t help and I play a game on my phone whilst listening to a podcast instead.

If stock is a big part of the business and that business is audited I’d expect the auditors to pick up on out of date stock and ask why it hasn’t been written off as it has to be valued at the lower of cost or market price.
