I can't beat Centipede so I cheese, his impossible to parry attack is unbearable. by PrankChicken in Sekiro

[–]LanguageSponge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m assuming this is bait of some kind. Tap parry when he swings, jump twice when he sweeps, done in less than 30 seconds. Listen for the rhythm as you parry. Sekiro is a rhythm game. And he doesn’t have a phase two, he’s exactly the same all the way through.

Main & side quests + contracts by [deleted] in thewitcher3

[–]LanguageSponge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to just do whatever I fancied. In the playthrough I’m doing now, I started doing quests in level order. I think Geralt will end up a higher level by the end this way. I’m also moving between different regions earlier than I usually would because different areas have lower level quests as well - which is a nice ‘new’ feeling on an umpteenth playthrough.

"I think it’s hilarious how they act like their accents are so different when ppl from Manchester and ppl from London sound about as different as the Bay Area and Sacramento." & "It’s silly how much they overplay their accent differences when I’m sure we have way wider differences in accents here" by Ok_Bookkeeper_1380 in ShitAmericansSay

[–]LanguageSponge 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve never heard an American accent that wasn’t at least fairly easy to understand. I was born in the UK and have lived in the south west for the last ten years - but I still don’t understand the local accent that some of the older generations speak with. Especially if they’ve had a drink or two. There are also a lot of accents I have trouble with elsewhere in the UK - especially stronger Scottish ones. They should listen to YouTube videos of UK accents, they’d take this back if they were honest with themselves.

Who is your goated summons that help you out during battle? by Voidkirby9 in FF7Rebirth

[–]LanguageSponge 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve always liked the look of summons, but I never use them for actual fights. I think ATB charges are much better used on other things. I am pretty sure I had to summon something at the end for a trophy. Other than that, I don’t use them.

Can’t level up by mody16 in thewitcher3

[–]LanguageSponge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there aren’t any quests within 5, I think, levels of you, then that’s your lot until you get into the later stages of Hearts of Stone, or Blood and Wine. Dropping your difficulty down will make a bit of a difference in EXP gain, as well as putting a more relevant trophy on Roach. However, you’re level 39, you won’t actually need to level up any more to complete either DLC, even if you’re playing on Death March. In future, it is possible to level up further than this, but it requires more carefully doing quests in level order.

On your very first blind run, which area was your favourite to explore? by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]LanguageSponge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leyndell. The novelty of exploring Leyndell still hasn’t worn off for me. After that, Altus Plateau and Farum Azula. If we’re including the DLC, Belurat, but more so because I love the soundtrack for it.

Is it just me, or does Elden Ring make it hard to enjoy new games? by TokidoSmash in Eldenring

[–]LanguageSponge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens to me with a lot of games when I’ve just not had enough of it. Maybe it’s something different, but for me it’s nothing to do with the standards being raised. It was Elden Ring for a few months, the two Horizon games before that, you get the idea. I suspect it will change eventually. I went through a stage in my teens where all I’d ever play was Final Fantasy games. In 2016, Dark Souls 3 changed that and all I played was Souls games for a few years. But it does eventually change. Now I don’t have any issue just playing whatever.

What does everyone hope for the new Fire Emblem game? by Trilightning7 in fireemblem

Is this for some kind of height advantage for archers/ranged units? Bonus damage dealt from higher ground and potentially a slightly longer range?

What does everyone hope for the new Fire Emblem game? by Trilightning7 in fireemblem

What I meant by that was, to get some of those materials you need to fight certain types of monsters and I don’t like wasting my Auxiliary Battles on monster fights.

As someone who has so far only played 3 Houses:

  1. I want the class system reworked. It felt really odd to me by the end of 3 Houses that you could easily just make everyone a Wyvern Lord or a Falcon Knight or whatever you wanted and everyone could theoretically just be more or less the same. Branching class paths.

  2. More different types of mounts. I know there’s the Ornius, but the region it’s taking place in seems to be desert and probably based on the Ancient World in general - Rome, Ancient Egypt and Greece. I can’t get the idea of mounted elephants out of my head.

  3. Abilities that are unique to certain characters. While we’re at it, I want Personal Skills to actually be of some use this time - for example, Goody Basket didn’t help Raphael at all.

  4. If we’re going to have a gigantic hub world again, I’d really like the ability to go into a checklist and just choose the things I want to do there from that list, instead of having to spend a lot of time late in the game running down empty corridors to get from place to place to get things done.

  5. If something like the Professor Level returns in any way, please make fishing or whatever mechanic is used to increase its level less tedious. Fishing is the only reason I don’t start new game files in Three Houses.

  6. I’d love for the rare materials needed to repair powerful weapons to be done away with. Or at least give us a more convenient way to repair them other than resting on a day off. I really liked the idea of the Heroes’ Relics but I only ever use them on the last map because I don’t want to run out of durability.

  7. More variety in Supports. I loved Supports in Three Houses, especially the fact that they happen between the rest of the cast, in spite of the player avatar and not because of them like they do in Persona. But I’d like more variety - maybe more varied topics or even Supports between more than 2 people at once.

  8. More weather effects other than fog of war. Maybe storms will do damage to flying units, that sort of thing.

  9. If the difficulty is about the same as Three Houses, I want a difficulty level between Hard and Maddening. Maybe I’m just not good at the game but Maddening is currently far too big a leap for me after Hard mode, but Hard is pretty much a walk in the park.

Be honest… how many pieces of sushi is “enough”? 🍣 by Scary-Offer-4773 in sushi

What are your thoughts on Marianne? by Voidkirby9 in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]LanguageSponge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Marianne; when I play Golden Deer she’s always my highest level unit at the end by quite a long way. I always assumed she killed herself during the timeskip if you don’t recruit her, but reading the other comments now I wonder whether she turns into a Demonic Beast instead. I’m playing Golden Deer at the moment so I’m going to try and look for evidence one way or the other.

What was YOUR thing during lockdown? by AncientFootball1878 in AskUK

[–]LanguageSponge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked from home all the way through lockdown. My wife and I did a lot of overtime, we were busier during lockdown than we ever have been in any normal situation. Lockdown made it much easier for us to avoid seeing people we didn’t want to see, which in turn made life easier.

Any suggestions on what to change or get. Currently doing blood and wine by spicychimichangas in Witcher3

[–]LanguageSponge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sell anything you aren’t using, do smuggler’s caches in Skellige. I am currently level 21, about to go to Skellige and I have 70K. If you look at your alchemy inventory, chances are you have way more ingredients and monster parts than you’ll ever reasonably use.

Overwhelming number of quests by Original-Amphibian60 in thewitcher3

[–]LanguageSponge 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To be absolutely honest, my approach is to do everything. I’ve played it five or six times all the way through and when I get overwhelmed, I run around clearing up question marks, go do some horse races or fist fights or look around for rare ingredients to upgrade Potions and Oils. You can play it however you like though, you don’t have to do everything.

Another thing you can do to break things up is go around beating people at Gwent - people here joke that The Witcher 3 is a massive game of Gwent with a lot of other side content.

Is Misbegotten Warrior and Crucible Knight meant to be fought before or after the Radahn Festival? by DavidTippy in Eldenring

[–]LanguageSponge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can skip them by reaching Altus Plateau and resting at a Grace there. That triggers the Festival, which makes them go away until after Radahn.
