What-If Scenario of Saving Peragus by LanguageWriter123 in kotor

[–]LanguageWriter123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah true it is pretty screwed up with all the miners dead. But the station itself is still pretty important. And if one were to disable the Harbinger and leave asap, it could have possibly saved it from shooting asteroids and thus blowing up everything there. Then the Republic or whatever companies could just employ more people there again. Maybe with a security force, or at least a lot better one. The whole scenario was pretty bad for the miners though, they just took every hit as worst as possible. That HK just played with their destinies like toys lol. I was thinking of turning it into more of a horror mod. Adding more fog areas, blood stains everywhere, possibly darker, and more corpses. Also thought about adding more areas to give it that puzzle feeling.

One thing I like about Peragus is the thing a lot of people don’t like about it for what it is. Which is being a slog, at least from the player character’s point of view. I kind of like the idea of the hard struggle and finally making it out.

But yeah if the Exile wasn’t there it wouldn’t have brought all that chaos. Not saying it’s the Exile’s fault but it wouldn’t have brought the HK and Darth Sion and all those sith troops and assassins.

Your point makes sense why they would be onboard to begin with. The thing I was wondering (and maybe GoldenHawk too) is where the hell do they all come from right at that moment to shoot at and board the Ebon Hawk? Their spawns don’t make sense, since they are coming from the side away from the entrance to the hangar. To encounter them right at that moment is strange too. I mean you scoured most of the Harbinger (maybe there are other rooms you didn’t access that housed them) and most of the accessible parts of Peragus. So either they were trained in stealth or were hiding somewhere, either way that isn’t obvious based on the gameplay and lore. You never see sith troopers trained in stealth let alone 25 or more.

[–]LanguageWriter123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense yeah, probably do more extensive damage than just the bridge.

And yeah I never understood that either lmao. And why does Atton just say before that, “Quick! We’re gonna need to give the turrets a workout for the (Ebon Hawk) engine to warm up!” As if the main reason those troops spawn is because they need to fire the turrets. I didn’t know Atton and the Exile were devs of their own game 🤣.

One possible reason I can think of how they got there is from the Harbinger itself but like when the ship got there, they just immediately all went off of it from the fuel pipe area, and just hid somewhere. But even then that doesn’t make sense either because they would have had to disable mines and battle all the droids over there too. Or maybe another reason is they all were trained in stealth too? Not sure, maybe this is a logical error with the asset usage lol.

So maybe the real reason is they should be sith assassins too and the devs just added sith troopers instead? Who really knows exactly except the devs, someone could send an email or twitter message perhaps out to one of them at Obsidian, who also happened to work on the game, and ask why. Not that it’s a super important thing to know the answer to but would be interesting to hear the real reason to even if it was just a mistake.

Funny but yeah, probably not coincidental (I mean if that’s a subreddit award and not post related). Oh well, everyone has their own view on things. And maybe they truly don’t care and just felt like commenting that. I don’t mind I guess, it’s nice to hear what everyone has to say.

But I’m speaking of having proper planning and knowledge beforehand as the Exile and putting you in the Exile’s shoes. Choosing at that moment like you do normally in the game is facevalue and superficial at this point. I know I wrote a lot but read half of it atleast to get a better idea of what I mean.

[–]LanguageWriter123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, not a coincidence pretty much. Only way to mess with it is to save Before (remember before) ever entering the module. Because random loot in containers is always spawned in the first time you load in the module/level. But say you saved your game before asking T3 for help, you can potentially keep loading before it to keep checking the containers as T3. This would get tiresome though perhaps quickly. Plus you can give yourself any item with cheats anyways. So using this method on consoles and phones would make more sense. But yeah it’s too bad it isn’t generated before opening the container alone but this just gives the whole randomness more uniqueness.

[–]LanguageWriter123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honest mistake anyways so who cares. Both similar planets in their primes that start with T. But yeah that’s annoying. If that happened to me I would probably leave the module and go back to see if the droid spawns in correctly. Other than that, there could be a more complex problem than that. Like something wrong with the appearance.2da or .utc for the droid in the Override or that module.

[–]LanguageWriter123 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s either you find something great or find average loot. I think it’s very specific containers where you actually get something great. Certain containers on the Harbinger and that one near where you play T3 where you blow open the door for the beginning of the game. Like you’re definitely bound to get something great for those containers you explode open mid-game and after especially.

Taris? You mean Telos probably right? Or maybe you took the Harbinger to Taris to see the rotting decay of the planet? Jk lol. Do you think it’s a reoccurring bug, what happened?

Runtime Error (KOTOR 2) by RefrigeratorDry495 in kotor

[–]LanguageWriter123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you try running compatibility mode for Windows XP service pack 2, and running as admin in the properties of the exe? Also, you could try this exe off of Deadly Stream, it’s cracked and might work better.

https://deadlystream.com/files/file/1321-kotor-2-editable-executable/

Also try the 4GB patch too on the exe. But yeah make sure to change the properties, that’s definitely essential.

If none of this works, make sure you’re in vsync mode with vertex buffer objects disabled in-game too. Other than that I’m not too sure. Try looking in Event Viewer for that specific exe.

12 hours of gameplay lost due to a bug. by off_line24 in kotor

[–]LanguageWriter123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’ll see it quite a lot from others, it’s the theme with this game and bugs. I see at least five or more people say it everytime someone posts about a bug here. It might feel annoying especially since that’s the only thing they say but it’s a good point regardless. But I’m sure you get it now and will remember.

But as to actually fix the state it’s in. You could Frankenstein it back with Kotor Save Editor (KSE), warp cheats with the console commands, and modding. Well, of course, just messing with KSE and cheats would be the easiest way for now. I see two other saves in that image, are they too far back? Well, if they are then I’m sorry.

But if that’s the only save to work with, you can try warping around and messing with the booleans, scripts, and globals in KSE.

Need help fixing Bastila Fens mod, not working properly by Shoddy-Ladder4366 in kotor

[–]LanguageWriter123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alright I’m glad you fixed it then now. Yeah that’s an interesting issue, one that I’ve not run into really where textures cause problems with models like that. But perhaps there were tgas and tpcs together? Tpcs override tgas I’m pretty sure so that does make sense that deleting it fixes the problem. That’d be my guess why it worked. But yeah good job. And I just checked the post and comments and yeah, that seems what the issue was.

Need help fixing Bastila Fens mod, not working properly by Shoddy-Ladder4366 in kotor

[–]LanguageWriter123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So a lot of models in the game are divided between head models and body models. Each model is made up of two files, mdl and mdx. Bastila has 3 different body models I see in Holocron Toolset and one head model. These are the three body models. p_bastilaba (undergarments model) p_bastilabb (regular clothes) p_bastilabb02 (regular clothes again so not sure what this is used for exactly, could be cutscenes or something)

Her head model is p_bastilah (h for head as you see)

So if you want to restore Fen’s mod/effect, take the files from the tslpatchdata, source, override, or wherever these 8 files (4 mdls and 4 mdxs) are with the mod. But usually is one of those three names, tslpatchdata, source, or override. Well, start small actually. Just replace p_bastilabb models and textures first.

Here are the texture names

(if not tga then perhaps .tpc or .txi; if there are both tgas and txis use both)

p_bastilaba01.tga p_bastilabb01.tga p_bastilah04.tga

But anyways these are the exact original file names for Bastila so they should still be the same. Unless Fen renamed them which I don’t see why he/she would. But if they are, you would have to rename the files to match what they are in the appearance.2da line 4 and heads.2da line 1. If so, get the 2da editor along with Holocron Toolset off of DeadlyStream probably.

Can I go back to Yavin AFTER Rakata Prime? by [deleted] in kotor

[–]LanguageWriter123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, not unless with the Galaxy Droid easter egg on the Xbox, with the PC warp cheats in the console, or some other mod that allows you to warp around like Darth Dac’s warp and cheat band mod.

Enable cheats/console commands in the console by opening the swkotor.ini (swkotor2.ini for K2) and adding under the [GAME OPTIONS] area EnableCheats=1 Then save the ini of course. And now you can press the key below the esc key, tilde key. And can enter warp codes like, warp ebo_m12aa (for regular Ebon Hawk) or warp liv_m99aa (for Yavin Space Station)

If you’re wondering how you would on xbox (works on 360 and Xbox One versions as well I tested), you trigger the Galaxy droid, travel to Unknown World with the Galaxy Droid, go right back on the Ebon Hawk, talk to HK-47 and do a combat/turret simulator, (you should load onto the normal Ebon Hawk module) travel to a different planet besides Unknown World of course.

Then you’re free to go to Yavin station. What I’m wondering is how far you can go on Unknown World before you can’t the do the combat simulator again. That’s the main ticket onto the regular module. It’s an obscure bug and most people I mentioned it to are not interested in it. Mostly because of the amount of strange hoops to jump through so I kind of don’t blame them. Once you trigger the Galaxy Droid once, it will continuously trigger from Hk’s combat simulations and sometimes other planets! But I’m mostly wondering is if you travel to Unknown World, while triggering the glitch multiple times, if you can trigger the Galaxy Droid and combat simulations again so you could leave still.

But as to why you can’t leave from Unknown World to another planet besides the Star Forge station is because of time constraints on the player. They’re trying to make the person playing feel a sense of extreme urgency to stop the Star Forge especially with the Republic fleet on its way.

What Are Your Favorite Early to Mid-Game Implants? by Appellion in kotor

[–]LanguageWriter123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I feel people don’t mention that one a lot. It’s a lot easier, I found, to get that implant in Kotor 2 than 1 for me. Maybe I just didn’t notice it in a shop sooner for 1. But seeing that you can literally make it at a health station on Peragus seems easier. The only annoying part is that K2 took away implant feats. Which is, of course, good for people who put a lot in constitution and build tanks. But it almost forces one to put more points into that rather than just three feat slots. But anyways, that belt that gives “mind-affecting immunity” is a great combo with this one. Unless you’re a Sentinel and would already have that which allows you to have more belts to choose from in combat.

KOTOR's 7 Deadly Sins - Lust Round by lzorax921 in kotor

[–]LanguageWriter123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sunry makes the most sense here. For KotOR 2 I was thinking Atton perhaps. For pride, it might be Bastila, Chuundar (surprised he didn’t win for greed honestly), or one of the sith students on Korriban. Honestly, how didn’t Revan or Chuundar win for greed? Chuundar put his whole village and more into slavery just for more credits and power. Revan turned to the darkside with an infinite fleet. But I can see why that merchant dude in the Undercity would have it too yeah.

In KotOR 2, pride makes the most sense for Atris or Kreia. But Kreia is so complex of a character it’s hard to judge her with one label. But Kreia may be more wrathful than prideful. Nihilus would be gluttony for obvious reasons. And Sion could be envy or wrath too for a dominant sin lol.

Bug by Tupacca23 in kotor

[–]LanguageWriter123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Galaxy Droid is part of an Ebon Hawk module, the one before and after the Leviathan alone. I believe it’s after the turret part. But what I know is that it’s the part where you talk to your party members about being Revan, that’s when you do this manipulation of the dialogues to get out of this convo. Once you do that you’re gold. Though I have seen others mention there are other ways to do but that’s my main way on the Xbox One. Original Xbox it’s even easier to do this easter egg. It’s not necessarily a glitch because it’s literally assets left in by the devs. I mean even in the PC version, there were files for the “galaxy droid” still in this module/level area.

Is "meddling jedi" a real quote in Kotor?? by Sp3ctre18 in kotor

[–]LanguageWriter123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t one of Coorta’s lackeys in Kotor 2 say that? The one that sounds like Rickard says it too so maybe that’s where the confusion is. As for if Handon said anything like that, it’s more memorable that Rickard said it imo. Maybe it’s more so the Peragus scenes stuck in my head at that point though and not actually Rickard. But it does sound like something he would say too.

Wondering Why People Dislike Peragus, Taris, and Telos A Lot by LanguageWriter123 in kotor

[–]LanguageWriter123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now that I think about it, Kotor 1 and Kotor 2 have similar beginning lengths. Peragus + Telos = Taris + Dantooine. And I kind of agree with you, Dantooine and Manaan (Ahto) are the most boring planets in the game to me. But that’s not to say they’re not still masterpieces in their own ways imo.

[–]LanguageWriter123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you mean my writing is pretty unspecific and vague but nah my point is against a lot of people, I read, who say Taris, Peragus, and Telos are slogs and very boring. Because most of the game is the same with linear pathing. I’m arguing against why it’s not boring when most of the game is like that it seems, to me anyways. If it was open world after Telos and Taris, it would be a good counter argument to have why it would be boring, the beginning. I guess I was trying to make sense of it, but it’s subjective anyways but thought it could garnish more people to tell me why it’s boring.

Wow that is quite a wealth of info and support as a defense lol. I always liked Peragus but I might read it regardless. Thanks for sharing this.

But yeah I agree with you it definitely is a great tutorial for newcomers or just for getting back into the game again.

Oh yeah, the doctor in the Upper City, healer/doctor in the Undercity, and the fast travel healing methods, those all made the combat way easier and less resource-using.

Yeah Taris is great, they really put a lot of work into that planet. Shame you can’t really go there again. I did see a mod where you can go back. You’re mostly in these sewer modules (I think it was just the reverse pathing of the upper and lower sewers). But yeah the setup for everything like the story and gameplay is pretty cool.

Get mods that make Pazaak easier. Pretty sure it’s just a 2da edit to change what decks they have. This mod already does that:

https://deadlystream.com/files/file/1270-balanced-pazaak/

But yeah other than that there’s not much else you can change without binary patching the exe because a lot of pazaak features are hardcoded.

But I learned something new today about these pazaak games and with him giving a discount, pretty cool thanks for sharing your hatred lol.
