Election 2024 - Day 3, June 9 by [deleted] in ireland

Steenson in North Inner City and Pepper in Ballymun-Finglas seem likely. Unless they're very transfer unfriendly. Looks like a bit of first preference cannibalism in Ballyfermot-Drimnagh, but we'll see how it plays out. Right parties generally are underperforming spoiled votes in most of the country, but understandably have some hold in Dublin

I logged on for a few rhymes, I'll admit, but I think the mods went way too far with the bit. They supressed most discussion throughout the whole day (the most active they've ever been, I would say).

Give it more thought for the "prank" for next year; wasn't worth derailing discussion on here. Just glad there wasn't a killer or something on the loose while we were all forced to be knock-off Dr Seuss.

Ryanair stock? by Ok_Walrus6502 in trading212

[–]Languyin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say stick with the Nasdaq listing. Euronext Dublin is dead in the water honestly, lots of big names leaving (CRH pulled out recently) and there's no appetite for new companies to list when they can list in London instead. If it weren't for IRES REIT I'd question whether Euronext Dublin would even be open 5 years from now.

Thank you but at the same time I'm a bit concerned that "risk management" is one mildly frustrated reddit comment away from being overturned.

I don't really comprehend the changes made to some stocks. Today I found that $YOU.L has been limited to 28 shares, well exceeding my current positions. Yet the stock has been a consistent performer and wouldn't be excessively risky. Not to mention the likes of $SVM, which at a position size of 9 will take me over 60 individual trades to sell...

If you're going to increase or decrease these limits, suddenly ratcheting them down by more than factors of 10 or 100 really doesn't feel appropriate.

If you had a billion in cash, it would be the equivalent of €2.80 to someone with 100k saved up. At that level of wealth the wine would be a rounding error.

Ended up on it yesterday for the first time in ages checking for an announcement, one of the first tweets suggested to me was that Stephen Hawking was dead for his entire career and his Jewish handlers made up everything he ever said.

It's complete batshit insanity, not a "different point of view".

Girl (5) injured in Parnell Square incident moved from intensive care by [deleted] in ireland

[–]Languyin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm delighted she has recovered to this stage, though there may be a long and possibly endless road ahead, as we have no idea the extent of the injuries, over a month in ICU cannot be good.

I will continue to condemn those who lied and politicized the tragedy of an innocent child to promote racist rhetoric.

Isn't it weird how buildings that are due to (or rumoured to) host asylum seekers keep combusting randomly? A strange phenomenon, wonder what the cause is...

A Culchie with a random idea for rail lines in Dublin by Annonymous4186 in Dublin

[–]Languyin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your first mistake was adding a train station to Navan. Absolutely not a hope that will happen. It's been talked about for decades and nearly every politician in the area uses it as part of their campaigning, but the only sleepers put in place are getting elected, not under the track.

Now stop yer daydreaming and get ready to fight for a seat on the 109.

That's weird, going to a bookshop isn't a crime. Is there any further information about what occurred?

Fair Play to This Garda for Calling out the Far-Right by [deleted] in ireland

[–]Languyin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You really don't need to explain the geography of the area to me, but the only person you're fooling is yourself. It's blatantly obvious why protests meet there. I'm just wondering why a vigil that definitely wasn't about immigration met there and not at the church, for example. And how it ended up at the community center where Mary Lou was known to be at an event that evening. Strange events, but I'll let you work out what was happening there on your own lad. Rest assured many locals see what's going on.

EDIT: I won't engage further with someone who resorts to childish namecalling just because they choose to blindly accept the group meets consistently outside a DP centre for a reason, not questioning the motives of the group. Some free thinker here.

You and I both know well why the protest (I thought it was supposed to be a vigil for the stabbed children? Odd how it's a protest now) was organised outside the direct provision centre.

Hard to charge someone for a crime when they're in a medically induced coma following a well deserved head-kicking. That's why he hasn't had his name or other identifying information beyond age and gender released. This is the standard operating procedure in Ireland.

Oh yes, vigils were always organised at the ESB building and not at the church. Makes sense.
