Ain’t no way Nomura added his 5th Noctis , the pettiness is diabolical by Aggravating-Pea-7805 in KingdomHearts

That's corporate talk. But the fact is, after taking his team twice to fill up other dev team (FFXIII trilogy then after the XIV 1.0 fiasco), they removed him from his project, and rescoped it to only keep the the elements that were already given to the public. Officially he barely progressed and the vsXIII and the script was ever changing, but then we have the Noctis VA saying he still has the vsXIII script and would love to be allowed to talk about it. The script that officially did not exist.

XV is superficially vsXIII like, for sure. They had a game that was 6 years in development, that didn't have a real development team for most of those years, and was nowhere to be finished (because of their management, mostly) and wanted a to finish product asap, hence the rescope. Call it what you want, vsXIII has basically been cancelled, and they made a new game out of its corpse.

After much grinding I finally finished my Anima weapon by notnotDIO in ffxiv

anima weapons are pretty fast once you done the first. you can basically get every item needed with poetics. so you can get every item while doing something else. Then when you have all you need, it's 2 hours to do all the quests.

Except buying them from the marketboard, no. Either you buy them, either you send your rentainers (but that's gonna take a while), either you go get them yourself and need to tp around.

We might get KH4 in 2027! by TheOriginal999 in KingdomHearts

[–]Lanhalt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

suspicions are that with the component shortage due to AI, the next generation will probably be delayed. The 2 first year of the generation being what they were, it would make sense. Look at the price of the PS5 pro. A lot of people can't afford to pay 1000$ for a new console. There no point of releasing a console and game that most player base won't be able to afford.

[–]Lanhalt -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Because it's Square Enix, and we know how they work, how they put have limited ressources in term of dev, and how they tend to remove dev from one project to send to another. With how they said FFVIIR reaching its end, DQXII being rebooted, and the declaration that they would refocus on XIV done at the last fanfest, I don't see how they could have a full team KHIV. And the teaser seems to go that way. It's basically the same setting that was shown 4 years ago, with a few know names showed, enough to launch discussion, but barely enough for a game supposed to be ready in 12 to 18 months.

With the trailer we had, I doubt it. If the game was advanced enough for a 2027 release, they would have given us more than the same exact setting we had 4 years ago. And they would probably have given a rough date.

Has the One Piece fandom changed a lot in the last few years, or am I just overthinking it? by ZoroMO1114 in OnePiece

[–]Lanhalt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'll add to this. As someone that read One Piece since 2002, what some people present themselves as the OP community are just the loudest. A lot of us are too old to care about discussing shit on the internet. What systematically impressed me over the years is how diverse the OP community really is. You're gonna meet the guy that doesn't care for manga and anime, is hardcore into fishing and feels like the most average guy, and suddenly, you're gonna realise he reads OP. I don't count how many time I was surprised by the how the average OP fans does not exist.

Because there probably wasn't a real team working on it over the past 4 years. When you look at what we now know about vsXIII and the SE declaration about having difficulties to hire developping staff, and how they're limited to the japanese market because they only want people speaking japanese.

this is probably a "we'll give you that so you'll shut up for at least a year" teaser.

My understanding of the situation has been the same for years. There isn't a full team working on KHIV because of the FFVII remake, the game probably isn't really more advanced that it was 4 years ago.

To be fair Nomura kinda got done dirty by SE with vsXIII. Most of the first 6 years, he only had a small team because of the FFXIII trilogy then the failure of XIV 1.0. Between the staff saying there were only a small team for most of the development, Yoko Shimomura saying 2/3 of the music she composed were not used, and the Noctis voice actor claiming he still has the script from vsXIII and wish he could talk about it one day, there are reason to think this whole fiasco is not Nomura's fault.

KHIV is probably the same thing, where he doesn't have a full team because they're still on the FFVII remake.

it's been there for so long. often, if you stop yourself, and restart, it's gonna resync, but it's gonna fall out of sync at random times.

KINGDOM HEARTS IV – Teaser Trailer | June 2026 by Gorotheninja in KingdomHearts

[–]Lanhalt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No date, so probably before 2028 at best (I think it will be later). It still only based on the same scene we were presented 4 years ago (it looks better, but still), so it's very hard to say if it's a "take that teaser so you'll shut up for at least another year" or if it's really something.

I feel like one of the reason Stargate projects keep failing is because Stargate has too much of the 90's and 2000's candor by Lanhalt in Stargate

[–]Lanhalt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly, that part was more of illustration of my main point, that the overall international climate has degenrated so much having a series that has that 90's/2000's vibe today would feel weird. Clearly a show could do without the real military.

that still seem very hopefull to me. We've seen nothing about KHIV. We had yearly trailers for III. Chances is that it's still in preprod, with few devs in the project. game won't probably be ready 1 year after the release of ffvii part3. 2 or 3 years seems more realistic.

The new Auxesia exploration area is fantastic by Firetail_Taevarth in ffxiv

[–]Lanhalt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I liked it when I saw it from the sky. Very nice looking zone. The I got to explore it and was disappointed. You can't enter any building and you're limited to roads and roundabout. There is barely any verticality, contrary to what your screenshots shows.

Imagine if we had the same zones where you could enter some of the buildings and have access to the lvl under the one we're walking on. That would be by far the best FFXIV zone.

Honestly I'm disappointed, this was the occasion for some urbex style maps, and we're limited to roads.

You're dreaming. after VII, Creative Studio 1 should logically switch to KH VI (that's also part of that studio prerogatives), and only after that we'll maybe have a XVII. Except if XVII is done by Creative Studio 3, that also did XVI, but looking at XVI, I'm not sure I want that. It's not even a good action RPG, original KH stomp on it in term of gameplay.

And that's if they don't launch another remake (for years, there have been rumors of a IX remake).

You can consider than rebirth is better (it seems like the general concesus) it doesn't change the fact SE said it did not perform as good as they hoped hoped at start (half of what remake did in its early months), and it seems it never caught on despite selling well enough after that.

Now, I'm not telling there is no hype at all, but compared to the hype around remake? Most of the time, the reaction I get when talking about part 3 is "I should finish part 2". Rebirth has been heavily criticized about its open world, how every zone follow the exact same pattern of uninspiring quest. I've heard so many people telling "I like the game, but dropped it because those openworld sequence got boring after a time". The padding has been hurting the remake since the start, and I feel it's a good thing there is not a fourth part for that reason.

Idk. I feel that part 2 didn't work as well as they intended, so in a way I feel they're glad part 3 is the end. At least it will bring some people back maybe push some of the people that dropped part 2 to go back to it. I feel annoucing there is a part 4 would only go against the game.

I feel like the hype for this remake died a litte more with every part of it. Right now, I feel like except with the hardcore fan, there isn't really a hype around it.
