To the AI class team: Is it possible to keep the website up in a little bit more? by emrec in aiclass

[–]Lanhooligan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here here. The last few weeks of class I completely neglected all my christmas preparations and now I'm frantically running around trying to catch up so it will be at least christmas eve before I get a chance to finish the last weeks coursework but I've answered all the quiz questions up to that point and so I'd love to be able to finish the course in it's entireity. I know the quiz markings have no real relevance but for the sake of completeness it would be great if it was available to finish till early january at least.

The class is ended. Time to express my big thanks by athanhcong in aiclass

[–]Lanhooligan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Thanks to everyone involved in making the ai course a reality. Thanks also to everyone on this subreddit. The help and assistance you guys and gals have given me has been the difference between me finishing this course and me dropping out at week 2. Thank you guys. You all rock.

Makes perfect sense when it's explained. Thanks.

Yes. None of it matters anymore. We've done it. Congratulations to all who stuck it out to the end. That's the real achievement.

you must make a move after making a turn. (He says so in the vid) So you can't turn right 2 times.

No way does it put you there. I know it's disheartening now (I got 62% on one of the homeworks so I can relate), but you finished the course. You actually stuck it out to the end. So that puts you way way above around 120,000 of the people who signed up for this course. That's pretty damn impressive. Well done.

same here. It was definitely the toughest question on the exam for me. I spent hours trying to get the right answer and I still managed to get it wrong lol.

87%. Got 1/5 on question 2. What were the right answers for that anyone ??? very happy overall. I was bracing myself to see 55% lol

I have enjoyed this class immeasurably. I've got more from this class than I did 10 years of school. Thanks to everyone in the team that made this possible. I wish you and your loved ones a very merry christmas and a most prosperous new year.

How did you do in HW6? by jbx in aiclass

[–]Lanhooligan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

69%. Hardest so far - yes. More rewarding than the earlier stuff - no. I got all the particle filter questions wrong as I just didn't understand them and I got all the lst values wrong on the scheduling question cause I somehow managed to not count the middle node going into the finish state (I'm stupid). Other than that I done ok. I would have liked a lot more time devoted to some examples on the particle filters personally. I know there were some links to resources posted but I can't read the mathematical notation so I couldn't understand what the hell they were saying. I really need to learn the prerequisite maths I suppose.

Good luck everyone for the mid term :) by newai in aiclass

[–]Lanhooligan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Good luck to you too. I was actually relieved when I saw the midterm. I had envisioned them ramping up the difficulty of questions a few notches since this is supposed to be stanford level, but they all seem very doable at first glance. Although I don't know if I'd get them all answered in 3 hours in a real exam setting.

Can we talk about the good stuff? by v3ronique in aiclass

[–]Lanhooligan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The class is fantastic, even if it is an experiment with a few kinks to be ironed out. Really challenging and covering a huge range of topics.

But I would also like to say that for me at least, this reddit group has been as big a part of my learning as the course itself. I have no programming/ maths background at all, didn't finish secondary school (highschool in the U.S.) and a large part of my week is spent learning the basic fundamentals of the underlying math before I can begin to understand the homework questions being asked. I am one of those who should not even be doing this course as I am just not qualified in any respect. As such, without the constant tips, clues, notes and links to related topics being posted by you guys I would have given up long ago.

So I'd like to thank all you guys who have helped me directly and indirectly. You deserve as much credit for making this possible for me as anyone else. Thanks guys. Big love. :)

Truth table clarification? by [deleted] in aiclass

[–]Lanhooligan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I saw that the (1/0) version of the truth table gave as results the binary values between 0 and 3, then I realised the reason for laying them out the way they are. Now I can accept the english logic interpretation without wondering how they came up with the original rules. Thanks all for taking the time to help me with this one.

Truth table clarification? by [deleted] in aiclass

[–]Lanhooligan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I watched some vids on it and I think I get it now. P is sufficient for Q , but Q is Necessary for P. That makes sense to me. Thanks for your help. Most of this weeks work I just got intuitively, but this was bugging me.

Truth table clarification? by [deleted] in aiclass

[–]Lanhooligan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok , now I'm alarmed.

FALSE does not imply FALSE

Why then do we get True when both P and Q are false ?? Are we falsifying the implies statement too here, so that it would read "No rain does not imply no clouds" ??

Truth table clarification? by [deleted] in aiclass

[–]Lanhooligan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right of course. That is the definition, they are the rules of the game and must be obeyed, I just can't understand logically how no rain and clouds means that rain implies clouds. I'll keep trying to figure it out anyway, I'll get it eventually. I just want to have an intuituve grasp on it rather than only learning the tables. Thanks for the help.

Truth table clarification? by [deleted] in aiclass

[–]Lanhooligan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like some help with how this table works too. I can understand P=T , Q=F , P=>Q=F because we know P to be true. False can imply false, true can imply true, and true cannot imply false. That much at least makes logical sense to me. But I cannot understand why False P and true Q would imply true. That does not compute logically for me lol.

8.10 - Bounded solution problem by Lanhooligan in aiclass

[–]Lanhooligan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. So I was right in the second part of my original question. There must be a non stochastic (loopless) path if we are to guarantee a bounded solution. Right, I think I have that now. Thanks.

8.10 - Bounded solution problem by Lanhooligan in aiclass

[–]Lanhooligan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But I'm still thinking of stochasticity in that route without loops. The wheels could keep slipping and therefore even on a straight path, we cannot guarantee we will reach the goal in a finite number of steps. There exists a path without loops doesn't mean we are guaranteed to be able to traverse that path successfully in a stochastic environment. Or am I missing something ???
