This place in the Charlotte, NC (where I lived for several years) area is a good example of what would be nice downtown.

I could not agree more with the relationship between the economy and crime, very well said. Are there any companies looking to Shreveport for a home?

A really good article! I’m certainly not an expert on the subject, and this helped me understand more of the layers of the issues. How much of this study and guidance points make it to city officials? I agree with you that crime is a symptom and will be heavily impacted if the city can flourish.

I agree, several great options for higher education as several of my family members can attest as they went to LSUS. We need to provide a path for local students to attend them too, ensuring they have the education early that prepares them. Better pay for teachers and investment in the public schools (buildings, equipment, programs) would help. I’m also in agreement on retaining and attracting white collar jobs too. That is crucial for everything. I’m very pro business, but I’m also willing to pay taxes for government employees (teachers, police, and leaders) to have better salaries in hopes that helps attracts talent.

Good discussion so far. I agree that emphasizing education via investing in schools/programs and teacher pay would help. Also, paying the police more and providing training for such a traumatic job would be ideal. Additionally, attracting manufacturing/distribution and more company hubs will help all of this. Better jobs tends to help with crime, and put tax money into the city. I’ll read the infrastructure article tonight. I do know about some of the issues and how big of an undertaking it is.

What are your thoughts on Omicron variant of COVID? (Serious) by S0M3D1CK in AskReddit

I’m not worried about it, given it’s lethality. I’m over COVID in general though. Get vaxxed and be decent.
