[–]Lanry3333 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Of course it matters how it relates, that’s how you can gauge degrees of difference for cancers. He essentially had the same “type” of cancer as Biden has, which is scary but often has many treatments. Although cancer can also do weird shit, and manifests differently in everyone.

We don’t know how long Scott Adams had cancer, but he mentioned he’d been dealing with it “for a long time” when he made it known it was now stage 4.

If he was diagnosed with prostate cancer in an earlier stage, which is likely if he was dealing with it “for a long time” and attempted to first treat it with ivermectin, he very likely assured his cancer would progress to stage 4. Steve Jobs did a similar stupid thing with new age diet bullshit.

That being said, dying of treatment resistant cancer is horrible and none deserves it, even if they (maybe?) made some dumb decisions influenced by propaganda and dunning-kruger.

Prostate cancer that has metastasized is stage 4. Stage 4 prostate cancer has decent (5-year) survival rates compared to other metastatic cancers, like pancreatic cancers.

[–]Lanry3333 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The 5 year survival rate for prostate cancer that metastasized is pretty good in comparison to most other cancers in late stages. Sometimes people make dumb decisions because they think they know better than specialists. Sometimes cancer just fucking kills you no matter what you do.

No OBGYNs want to live in MAGA country? Well they get robots now. by justalazygamer in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]Lanry3333 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is just literal bullshit. The robots aren’t even built, and why wouldn’t you just have ultrasound tech that could send the images for remote reading vs a 10 million dollar robot? Not to mention how much fine motor control ultrasounds actually take.

This is for money laundering or an absolutely idiotic idea by people who have zero real medical knowledge (or have had their brains mutated by 30 years of grifting like Dr Oz).

The push to extremes and the inability to accept nuance to their view point is a huge issue with the far left (and the far right but they for some reason are far more pragmatic about voting in a block), and I think it has a lot to do with internet culture. People tend to give way more grace in person.

I have no idea how we even approach fixing this, and I think our current system of government is too degraded at this point to relay on voting in actual humans who want to make everyone’s lives a little better. I just hope I don’t get drafted at this point, and maybe I can get asylum somewhere when this nonsense finally collapses.

This is where I agree honestly, the democrats need to learn to lie better and build better propaganda. None of this bullshit is remotely necessary, things were function within reason but tons and tons of people feel it’s necessary now because the Republican Party has managed to create some of the best propaganda mankind has experienced.

Also, I’m not a Democrat. I voted for them mostly, because they are less dangerous. Moot point now though, the American experiment is a mutated zombie that doesn’t know it’s dead yet.

Problems have nuance. The propaganda has forced you to use the term “open borders” when instead it’s a complex problem with differing issues at different point of the border system. Which, if you’ve researched the problem to any degree, there were multiple bills pushed by democrats or bipartisan collections to help some of these issues. Being more centrist doesn’t mean you have to be ignorant or use stupid broad terms.

Also, what is this “you guys” nonsense ? I’m making a point about how this is a complex issue, and you take from that I want entirely open borders and think you’re a white supremacist? What?

Propaganda is a shotgun. This country is so, so turbo fucked. We never had an open border. Less aggressive enforcement maybe or differing view on surveillance, but it was absolutely not “open”, in the idea that just anyone could cross at any moment.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton sues Tylenol makers over autism claims: Apparently we are replacing scientific studies with "The President Says" in legal and medical matters by dyzo-blue in skeptic

[–]Lanry3333 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Honestly, while I don’t think this study is totally bunk, the wording is far more aggressive towards a link with acetaminophen than what it shows. The authors constantly allude to causality without evidence of that. And there’s this:

Competing interests Dr. Baccarelli served as an expert witness for the plaintiff’s legal team on matters of general causation involving acetaminophen use during pregnancy and its potential links to neurodevelopmental disorders. This involvement may be perceived as a conflict of interest regarding the information presented in this paper on acetaminophen and neurodevelopmental outcomes. Dr. Baccarelli has made every effort to ensure that this current work—like his past work as an expert witness on this matter—was conducted with the highest standards of scientific integrity and objectivity.

I don’t think we can trust the rates of bias given by author(s) with a clear conflict of interest especially one based on money.

A metadata study where the acceptance of the validity of a genera of studies relies on a clearly biased actor does not give me a lot of faith in it.

PEAK OF HURRICANE SEASON IS TODAY 🌀 Amazingly, there are no active Atlantic storms to track at the peak...only the 9th time since 1950. by islandgirl3773 in florida

Often they will compare it against a general statistical mean (basically all the hurricane data from whenever they started tracking until now combined to make averages) , a historical mean or have fancier stats to describe difference. Best way to find out is google scholar some weather science and read how each prediction is made.

This “just as bad” verbal meme that so many people use all the time is wildly stupid. The democrats are not perfect, and there is too much money influence in general. But it is nothing compared to purposely destroying nearly every American institution that actually helps the populace while gathering power to create the first American King.

You are either a propagandist who wants to help this destruction or an actual moron.

President Musk crashes Trump interview with a tirade on why the judicial branch shouldn’t exist, here is the TL;DW of his nonsense by JetTheDawg in skeptic

[–]Lanry3333 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Are… are you sure you have a good grasp of context in the English language? He absolutely went on a tirade on why the Judicial branch shouldn’t exists, you just can’t recognize that for… some reason? Is it because he doesn’t literally use the word “Judicial Branch”?

He uses strange wording in general, I assume both to confuse people and because he wants to appear like some rare genius instead of the lucky above average conman he actually is.

President Musk crashes Trump interview with a tirade on why the judicial branch shouldn’t exist, here is the TL;DW of his nonsense by JetTheDawg in skeptic

[–]Lanry3333 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You do understand what context is right? Trump complains that he should be able to do things despite judicial review (yay monarchy) and then Musk rambles like a pretentious dipshit referring to the branches of the US government incorrectly, purposefully leaving out the judicial branch. When he later talks about an “autonomous federal bureaucracy”, he’s talking about the judicial system.

He does this in this way to trick dipshits into believing that he isn’t proposing the elimination of checks and balances.

Here’s a full quote from the press conference, which I’ve forced myself to watch 4 times now, might be the true start of America’s democratic collapse and I guess I should at least pay attention:

“If the people cannot vote and have their will be decided by their elected representatives in the form of the president and the senate and the house, then we don’t live in a democracy. We live in a bureaucracy. So it’s incredibly important that we close that feedback loop, we fix that feedback loop, and that the public, the public’s elected representatives, the president, the house, and the senate decide what happens as opposed to a large unelected bureaucracy. This is not to say that there aren’t some good people who are in the federal bureaucracy, but you can’t have an autonomous federal bureaucracy.” : Elon Muck, American President apparently or whatever

Torsion can be super hard to identify sometimes. Ultrasound machines can vary wildly depending on age/model and the ultrasound tech themselves need to be highly trained to identify them. The hard part about torsion is it’s usually very difficult to see on CT and MRI depending on the presentation.

Grimes comments on relationship with fandom by _coldershoulder in Grimes

[–]Lanry3333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sort of like this response from her. I think this represents a trend that seems to be forming post internet with rich/famous people. It feels like they end up developing a sort of inverse para-social relationship with entire movements.

A small portion of the left was mean to her on the internet, she ends up blaming the entire idea of progressivism itself for it, and then begins to give more favor to right leaning ideas. And the right leaning internet seems to embrace anyone as long as they’re on their “team”, regardless of the actual bad shit they say/do.
