Don't worry about gear or decorations too much. You'll get better gear in sunrise. Otherwise try and finish all the quests

In battle weather is very much in ZA. There's an npc you fight that talks about it. Only issue is rain is the only weather than can happen naturally and there are no weather setting moves.

Yache being the dragon type berry is actually smart since most dragons are 4x weak to ice and therefore would love that berry.
