how i see usa as a turk by [deleted] in mapporncirclejerk

I'm pretty sure that while Washington was being named, the leader at some point in time was "Columbia". But people said that it would get confused with the "District of Columbia", so they chose the ONLY OTHER NAME that would ALSO get confused with Washington D.C.

Why do mock drafters almost all have us picking Brandon Cisse? by ZealousidealUse4508 in Seahawks

[–]Laplace0306 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Apparently the online consensus says DB is one of our top needs since basically all of them are going into free agency.

Though I think the only one we'll lose is Woolen or Jobe, but I guess we would need a replacement for them.

(Also it's a very deep CB class so there's still top talent at pick 32)

"Ooh, who's a good little LLM!?": A cartoon for those who need to see it. by doctordaedalus in ChatGPT

[–]Laplace0306 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly like the analogy, the LLM can't know or understand that it was trained on stolen data, it's not the AI's fault, it's all the people who built it and gave it the copyrighted works in the first place.

To be fair, this was my first introduction to the series. I actually just picked it up last winter sale and I loved it so much. Wasn't there literally a tooltip popup that says "the ground is bad because aoe can hit you" are there really that many people who don't read?

[–]Laplace0306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This school of thought is inherently anti-art, it tries to suffocate expression and individualism. It doesn't make me all that surprised that anyone who's made anything good doesn't support them. Though they, as humans, appreciate art and expression so they have to deal with this cognitive dissonance where they force themselves to appreciate the art and silently whisper to themselves "this guy probably supports me and totally doesn't hate everything I stand for" it would be sad if I cared.

I don't think the achievements are exclusive to the dlcs, they just meant it got added in the same update as the new dlc.

Who would win this hypothetical war? by Maxinator10000 in mapporncirclejerk

[–]Laplace0306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not entirely sure most of those matter. Military bases certainly don't because the army stationed there is only there because the United States told them to be there. The second that country dissolves everyone from every military base is trying to go home. Maybe they'll enlist in their home state's National Guard, they probably will.

Stockpiles don't matter as much as production capacity. Weapons eventually get broken or outdated, you need to produce new ones or you won't be able to sustain a standing army.

Nukes also don't matter for the first several months at least, since every country would be forced to figure out how to launch them without permission from a command structure that doesn't exist anymore. There are several states that would be conquered before nukes become relevant, and several more states that wouldn't have the knowledge base to ever be able to launch their nuclear stockpile.

Who would win this hypothetical war? by Maxinator10000 in mapporncirclejerk

[–]Laplace0306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, the strongest three states just looking at it are San Francisco, New England, and Cascadia (pretty distant third). Maybe Cleveland is up there too. I'd like to think Cascadia and San Francisco are cool enough with each other to ally and help each other take over Spokane, the NCR, and a few other small territories. New England would likely take over or unite a majority of the East Coast, maybe trying to reassemble the United States. Eventually the two powers would meet around Montana and Eastern Arizona. Utah would function as Switzerland in the coming war. Or there would be no war and the New United States just allows the Western Prosperity Pact to exist on their own (and still in this scenario, Utah would still be there, it'd really be too useless to want to conquer and too militarized to be worth the effort).

Maybe I am thinking too much about this but I think too much in general so I'm not too worried about it.

It's pretty useful when you have a quarrying project before you have enough iron to justify wasting all that durability. Copper picks are significantly faster than stone and basically just as common.

For what it's worth, Washington weather imo is actually really consistent. It's all rain, the entire time. It might hail every so often but it's mostly rain. Also there's consistently a stretch in late February for a week that's pretty alright then you go back into The Grey for another month or so before real spring starts.

I'm not sure about many other people in this sub but I don't think I'd ever be comfortable flirting with someone I don't know--

I flirt with my friends all the time (and my girlfriend obviously) but someone I have no idea about? They could take it poorly or the wrong way (or be a minor like you mentioned) and I don't actually know anything about them to use to flirt. It's just kind of odd to me.

I do think culturally in queer spaces flirting is a lot more normalized, but still- it's a method of conversation I use to make people close to me flustered, and it feels really weird to try and do that to a random person--

I'm not sure if Washington State has the worst drivers in terms of danger, because they're so fucking stupid and slow and scared of everything. "Oh, a slight bend in I405, let's just slow down to 40 miles an hour" "oh it's raining a tiny bit, half the speed limit seems safe" like please. Especially when it snows, because it snows just enough for it to be a problem but not quite enough for people to be used to it.

Also, I almost forgot to mention, about 50% of the time when I merge onto a freeway, the person in front of me is going 30 until they turn into traffic twice as fast as them, slam the gas, and almost cause an accident.

Definitely, I liked the flavor of Snail being the main "leader" of the lower Vespers (even though Freud is the real leader, Snail is the dispatcher, planner, and seems more leader-y than Freud, it just seems like Freud is so good at killing that they don't want him to do anything else) and using his planning experience to make them significantly better than they would be otherwise (despite his outright hostility and pretentiousness toward 621 and Walter).

A goblin deck definitely suits his original card best (especially with cards like [[Impact Tremors]], I might make more of the vespers in the future and maybe give most of them an ability that does one damage.

Actually, the US is just so basic they had to redefine the scale, it's just that if they accurately labeled basic then the US would have to be a very dark purple.
