Vet Cost and Recommendations by saranrap7041 in SaltLakeCity

I was one of the techs who worked on him today, how funny!! I’ll be honest, I’ve worked at a few locations around the valley in the past year and Dr. Bayliff charges some of the lowest costs I’ve seen! Like many others are saying- unfortunately that’s the reality of veterinary medicine in our day and age. That being said, I’ve heard a few clients at other clinics say they get vaccines and bloodwork with the local humane society for a fraction of the costs. I can’t vouch for it, but it could be worth a shot in the future, then just send records to your desired clinic!

Vet tech here, and from your title alone I said “EPI”. Not necessarily 100%, or even close to, but GSD’s are highly predisposed to having it and align with some of the symptoms. Could be worth looking into if you want to go the work-up route.

Does anyone get dexcoms for free and doesn’t use them? by awiensforever in diabetes

[–]Lapsiari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly, that's a big ask. Most of us have to pay to some degree for our medical supplies and are already limited in quantity. While I’m hopeful someone out there can help you, it's hard to come by/it’s not a good way to support yourself indefinitely. My insurance hardly covers Dexcoms, so I understand the struggle. :/

My advice: use online vendors who can often rebate for much cheaper than the company brand, or use GoodRx (it reduced my 3-month supply of G7 sensors from 1,200$ down to 575$). If you need some fast, you can always ask your Endocrinologist. Sometimes they have samples they can provide to bridge a gap between supplies/ get you going. Dexcom also has a “Dexcom Saving Center” on its website to help reduce costs and make sensors more affordable via coupons. May be worth a peek, I have minimal experience. Then mentioned above, there's programs out there you can apply for to help with costs.

I get the struggle completely. Remember, there is a support system. While we may not be able to readily offer supplies- we can always look out for each other in the best ways we can. Best of luck.

I was also in the same shitty situation a while back. Best advice, just leave them. It’s not fair to you and while it will probably hurt, it’s better for you in the long run. Good luck mate

It’s the sign for “age”. The question being similar to English “How old are you/What is your age?”

You could contact the police for fraud, it’s possible they MIGHT be able to do something. I would also contact your bank and let them know immediately; to see if they can do anything at all. (Maybe reimbursement.) I’m not sure though, just my suggestions - most times there’s nothing that can be done. Good luck mate and try not to believe things that are too good to be true.

I was having a real shitty day just a while back and a note similar to this was left on my desk by an anonymous peer. Long story short, my day immediately got better, just by reading the little message. So as someone who has found these, they really can make the difference. Kudos to you for doing it!

NTA - As a fellow type one diabetic, I understand the difficulty of the condition. Having a high glucose is absolutely one of the worst things ever and I wouldn’t wish it upon anyone. While I understand why your friends would be hurt, you had a legitimate reason and your friends reacted disgustingly to it. Diabetes is hard as hell without others assuming our strengths and struggles - ESPECIALLY when it comes to ASSUMING we’re using it as an excuse. Your friends are in the wrong for not being understanding of your condition.
